I am not very experienced in these things, so bear with me as I spout some nonsense akin to babbles from a dribbling infant's mouth.

While I do enjoy the night life of AC - the variety , the endless and pulsating energy of joy that is packed within that 2 mile radius; I often find my daylight hours unoccupied . No, I don't enjoy being in a bar at 10AM. Somehow the idea of being confined in a bar when the sun is shining and there's so much to see outside.

But that there is the crux of the matter. There isn't much to do during the day in AC. SM Mall, to watch a movie and/or eat and do some shopping. Coming back to this side of the road it's just grimy and dusty and lifeless, at least during the day. I read that some people occupy their time by hitting the gym and pumping some iron before doing the real pumping after dark. See my comment about being indoors when I know damn well that the sun is shining outside.

That is why I loved my detour into Subic. It was tranquil just walking up and down the beach, or just venturing up and away from it all to discover some small towns on that hill. Getting away from the smog of the big road, that was something.

But come night time, the entertainment area I could cover in 6 beers of bar-hopping; and that was just the first day.

I want to know from those more experienced, is there a place out there that combines the night life of AC with the day time activities of Subic?

Sure, first answer would be Pattaya.

Has anybody done this : spent the days at Subic but moved into AC as the sun sets?

I would think this would be the best of both worlds, but it wouldn't be very economical and the logistics would be tricky.

Is there a place halfway where one might be part of both worlds?

Pardon the incoherence

I did mention...... babbles out of a baby's  mouth. Attached File  20140822_072845.jpg   112.85KB   40 downloads

It's cheap enough to do, but the its the travel that kills ya. You do realize that Subic is it's own mini Angeles right?

I totally agree. I just had my first trip to Subic and I loved it. Laid back relaxing place. Fresh air and nice beaches. Felt great taking a long ride on the bike up through that jungle past the freeport zone. And those Sam Miguels go down nice while watching the sun set over the bay. Now that's why I came to the Philippines.  B)

But man... The nightlife is dull as shit. Most of the bars were dead empty with a handful of ugly women on stage looking bored. Office Bar had some talent though. A man can have some fun but it's nothing compared to AC which is jumping all night.

I wrote a post about my time there if you want to read it. http://singlemanspar...ocation-review/

Funny I made the exact comment "If they could move Walking Street in Angeles down to Subic Bay then that would be my paradise on earth." But I guess everything is a compromise.

For a short trip I'd say go hard in Angeles for a while then go relax in Subic a few days. I brought a girl from AC down for a night and it was great. Be back soon!

On my last trip I went from Angeles down to Subic for the weekend which is enough time to enjoy the beach, floating bars, check out the SOB dance contest and hit the bars and pick up a few girls. The selection is not as extensive as Angeles but there are a few cuties in most bars. The trip is cheap and easy, 100 peso from hotel to DAU and I think 180 peso for the bus to Subic, then I believe another 100 0r 200 for the trike to the hotel so round trip approx. 800 pesos. Pub hotel is nice and central to the bars, the rooms are simple but clean and cost around 1500 peso a night or you could pay a bit more and stay on the beach which is a short walk to the bars. So it is not hard to do logistically and not an expensive diversion to take.

I find this thread interesting because when I go to Angles it Will be hard to explain to folks back home that I have no beach pics .Cubic does not seem that far away .It is not that much different to when in Pattaya I would take the ferry to the beautiful Island of ko larn everyday .I may take a couple of trips tosubic now this has been covered .I like the part about the cheaper bar fines

Good info - I appreciate it, and I'm going to make use of it! But I'll do it in reverse ...

My big thing on vacation is scuba-diving, and that's why I go to Subic. Next month, I'm going on a six-week "trial expat" trip, spending most of it in an AirBNB bungalow near the Arizona hotel in Barrio Barretto ... scuba-diving by day (well, two or three times a week) and enjoying the bar scene at night. But some friends are coming to Angeles City while I'm in BB, and I'd like to meet up with them. The "UV van" you mention will give me another option for the trip, in case I miss the Southern Cross bus.

Another option is going on the Angel's Bakery van (250 pesos). It is a good way to go, if it fits your schedule. They leave the Angel's Bakery (next to Alaska Club) at 2 pm daily. The driver will drop you off at your hotel in AC. The van returns from the bakery in Angeles between 7:30 and 8:00 AM daily. Be sure to reserve a seat a day in advance. Sometimes the van fills up, but most of the time it is not full. But by having your name on the list, the driver will not leave early.
