And to the heavyset Pinay in Hensonville Court driving the black SUV with the missing front bumper - chill out and be grateful for what you have instead of acting arrogant and driving aggressively. Now I know why some guys spend all day in the bar hahaha.

@  Hellboy : (23 February 2018 - 05:06 AM)

Grab Car seems hit or miss if they are available. Grab Trike seems hit or miss if they come.

@  spotemail2 : (22 February 2018 - 01:21 PM)

@Forte I never had that problem with Grab Trike. Grab Car works very well, I agree.

@  Dicko63 : (22 February 2018 - 09:30 AM)

Wheels up 7am tomorrow :-)

@  Forte : (22 February 2018 - 08:28 AM)

F Grab Trike in AC. Grab car is great, but Grab Trike isn't worth my time. I tried it a couple times and the trike drivers who where supposed to pick me up never left there points of origin. When I cancelled after about 20 minutes, Grab Trike said it would give me a negative rating for cancelling.

@  trippy : (22 February 2018 - 12:35 AM)

@Parne, That's great news! Congrats! And on a Tues night, go figure.

@  spotemail2 : (21 February 2018 - 11:51 PM)

@grahamuk AGREED.

@  doctor who : (21 February 2018 - 11:20 PM)

Tricycle 7p, Jeepney 8p in Davao, going up.. but if i walk No limit to the Cash expected to be given out, Cheaper to Pay and ride

@  grahamuk : (21 February 2018 - 10:25 PM)

What a bunch of big girls' blouses some of you guys are. lol

@  spotemail2 : (21 February 2018 - 04:36 PM)

@bill44ca I didnt know they have different trikes in AC good to know.

@  bill44ca : (21 February 2018 - 04:33 PM)

Grab Trike is the same miserable cramped rough ride. They do not have different trikes FYI if you didn't know that. Those big province ones are hard to find in AC

@  spotemail2 : (21 February 2018 - 04:30 PM)

Are you guys using Grab Trike? No haggling and cheap prices...

@  bill44ca : (21 February 2018 - 02:57 PM)

OOPs I meant to say trike. Actually 3 miles in a jeepney I could do if it was tall enough and had no exhaust leaks like the ones that go to Clark

@  bill44ca : (21 February 2018 - 02:56 PM)

I would have to be bleeding going to a hospital to ride 3 miles in a jeepney

@  grahamuk : (21 February 2018 - 11:37 AM)

No taxis where I live. Trike is p10 for shared ride, or p50 for 'special'. That's for a trip of around 3 miles. Jeepney is p9 for about 5 mile trip. I'm not complaining.

@  doctor who : (21 February 2018 - 10:29 AM)

the taxi rate is going up as i type, a 100peso trip now costs 140peso, exorbidant,, its going on all over PI at the moment , Jeepny also Still its cheaper that if i walk and handing out money to the Beggers its usually 200peso each way ,,so i ride now

@  grahamuk : (21 February 2018 - 09:14 AM)

Be grateful their prices compare well with 30 year-old western ones too.

@  doctor who : (21 February 2018 - 08:04 AM)

Mindanao taxi's radios are stuck in a time warp they only play,,AirSupply, Tom Jones.BeeGee's,, Dont get me wrong i used to like all the Above but that was 73 years ago

@  bill44ca : (21 February 2018 - 04:21 AM)

@PISHUFFLE yes and the lineups were awful based on a last week visit of over 15 bars. Only Hot Zone had a few lookers.

@  Parne : (21 February 2018 - 03:48 AM)

Really??? Just had the best night in our history last night. Tue. 2/20/18. Your "boots on the ground" must be gago.:):):)

330 ml cups? Either way that's a steal at any bar in the World. Wish I could lower my prices to that level. We have San Miguel Light and Negro on Draft. The Negro is popular

We serve in 250 ml branded Heineken glasses, as pictured, but will consider also offering a 500 ml branded glass option if there is demand. My personal preference is to drink from a smaller, good looking glass but it's what customers want that matters.

Cerveza Negra? Is it more popular on draft than SML? We also serve SML and sometimes SMB on draft - 330 ml for P50.

We do ours is 330 ml sizes and 500 ml branded glasses. I too prefer the smaller and they outsell the larger one by x2

The beer is colder

I think the 250 ml glasses must look rather snazzy

Yes, my bad it's the Cerveza Negra and it's selling about 50% more than regular SML. Tent cards make a difference. Switching over to double sized A3 transparent sleeves for double-sided promos. Enough room for four promos (2 on each side and easy to swap out) The only thing with those is you have to mindful they bend with heat, obviously water and wear. If a hot plate is put them for too long it needs to be tossed. Keep the standard heat resistant one for that. Well worth the cost if maintained properly.

Do you still have the USB chargers? Any surprises there?

OK, Mate, I've added your daily specials throughout the rest of the year, they all link back here so any updates here will lead everyone back to this thread. For any future additions or whatnot.

To clarify things a bit, what is the price of 500 ml glass?

A great deal and Charlies is always a lot of fun. The girls are friendly and very easy going. My favourite place in Barretto by a wide margin.

My local Puregold grocery store sells the Heineken 640ml long neck bottles for 82 peso each  all year round.

Now that they are brewing it locally here in the philippines under license the prices are great.

Great for buying half a dozen or more when going to a casual function with the local power brokers.

Personally, I find SMZero to be the best tasting low alcohol, low calorie beer I've ever tasted, and I've had a number in many countries.

Nice touch... admittingly Heineken usually taste better out of the bottle ...however a nice draft beer is a welcome change when it includes a nice "head"....will drop in and sink a few.
How much are the bottles at the bar?

Interesting. Most times you hear the opposite about beers because the bottles have more of the preservatives in them.

Agree...Asahi, Kilkenny and Molson Canadian come to mind. Much better on tap than can/bottle. But for some reason the Heineken seems to lose something. Anyway will have to come to Charlie's and try it out a few times just to be sure !

Interesting observations. I've lived in Amsterdam on 2 occasions for a total of around 8 years and have to agree; it tastes better out of a bottle. BTW, we have the bottled stuff in all of our places for P110.

Hmmm, maybe it's dependent on the beer or the person's taste preference or a combination of the two?

A big part of the taste of tap beer is how often the lines are cleaned or if it is a direct tap then the tap itself cleaned.  Many bars don't clean the lines

I like Heineken beer, and I usually drink Heineken in every country i go, and it's never the same taste. I get to be in Amsterdam quite a lot and I always drink Draft Heineken in Amsterdam, and it tastes delicious, better than any bottled Heineken I had in many different countries. Bottom line, can't argue about taste, and for sure I will try the draft Heineken in Cheap Charlie!

Keeping a good cellar and cleaning the pipes and lines is a thread all in itself.
I prefer bottled beer on holiday, its almost impossible for even the crapiest pub landlord to fuck that up. Almost :)

Good point, the beer staying colder (and fresher) in a smaller glass. Also, it affords customers who are unfamiliar with the product the opportunity to try it at a lower price than a larger glass would be. Not to mention that glassware is fragile and expensive, and taller glassware is more prone to breakage. We serve Heineken only in a 250 ml branded glass. Customers seem to like it.

Sounds good. When are they getting SM Pilsen on draft?

We always have draught San Miguel. Sometimes SML, sometimes Pilsen.

A big part of the taste of tap beer is how often the lines are cleaned or if it is a direct tap then the tap itself cleaned.  Many bars don't clean the lines

The draught Heineken system we use stores the already aerated keg in a Heineken chilled cabinet directly below the tap. The line consist of a two metre plastic tube that runs from the keg and out the end of the tap. The beer flows from the keg into one end of the tube and out the nozzle at other end of the tube into the glass, coming into contact with nothing else during the process. The line is disposable and each new keg comes with a fresh one. Very simple and very clean.
