This MeToo thing.... How does a guy in the US go about asking a colleague for a date these days without it potentially being called sexual harassment? And what about simple flirting? Am I exaggerating the potential problems or are they real?

Many times I hit NAIA between 2 and 5 am in the morning.  Where to stay?  This is one of my fav go-to hotel when I'm in a pinch.  The reason is that Victoria Court starts the clock when you check in, unlike other hotels that makes you wait till their (2 pm check-in) or unbending rules that would charge you whole stay when you arrive late (5 am for example).   Who wants to pay full days' stay for few hours?

Anyways, below is their Deluxe room (24 hrs) including breakfast.  So if you check-in at 3 am, you check-out 3 am, 24 hrs later.   They also have ST rates, I think P600 for 3 hrs in their deluxe size rooms.

It's next to Baclaran (Day/Night Flea Market).  Not far from EDSA bars (few min walk), 10-15 min cab ride to LaCafe/Malate Disco.  5 min cab to MOA.  5-15 min from major bus lines.  15-25 min away from NAIA, so its very convenient spot for me because this is one of my favorite area in Manila for touch and go.

After tax, I paid ~ $47 USD, but prices may vary depending on days of the week.   They also have a Victoria Court in Malate, but I like the Cuneta one better as it has nicer rooms.

During the day, it is safe to walk.  You can pick up almost anything you need cheaply at the Baclaran market few min walk away.  A few fast food restaurants just outside or you can take a quick cab to MOA with the famous Seafood Paluto Restaurants just down Macapagal Avenue in Pasay City

Bed feels comfortable and *clean* - that's the key word, not every ST hotels feels clean.  Even some Victoria Courts feels 'icky', especially most Sogos.  This branch I have no complaint cause I know you can't expect much in that area.

Wifi is strong, Air-con works.  Strong shower.  There is a small window (no view).  Guards always checks you before you can go out (gives you a key), so I feel quite secure here.  Of course girl-friendly (as you can see).  Negative - no room safe.

Easy to catch any type of transportation you need.  LRT (Baclaran), UV shuttles/vans, buses, cabs.  I usually stay here either my first night or last night in Manila because it is a convenient hub.

I have stayed in the Victoria Court (Cuneta, Pasay) a few times. I had no problem with the hotel. Good fast service and the food was decent as well. Like what has been said it is close to the EDSA bars (few min walk), 10-15 min cab ride to LaCafe/Malate Disco.

I only problem is if you decide to walk to the EDSA or any were after dark be careful. The street kids are really aggressive. Other then that i would recommend The  Victoria Court (Cuneta, Pasay)

My first nights stay is always there.  Not sure which room you had.  I always have a safe in my room.  usually it is hidden well close to the mini bar but always there.  If you book on expedia and collect their rewards. My last stay i had deluxe rooms for 35.00us a night by redeeming some of my points.

You are correct the hotel always does feel clean and you always feel safe when inside.  Never had any problems and close to an atm as well.  I would suggest to use it during the day light time due to the kids around

Ah thanks for the heads up. Ill look closer next time. Agoda has rewards system also. Usually works out 10 reservations and get enough points for free night or heavily discounted. More expensive hotel, more points obviously.

Yea the backstreets leading to EDSA bars are too isolated for me to walk at night. But the Roxas side of the street, I feel ok about it (some may disagree). Gets very busy even at night. Tons of cabs around so it is easy to flag down ones that will use meter.

Always book online or be very firm with their advertised specials.

I remember many many times, Im winging it and inquire about their special rates advertised on their banners.

Its always, "no more rooms that rate", even weekdays, "but we have another room available at (tourist rate)". If Im insistent enough, often, they happen to find one that just became available.

I agree. I have also stayed here when I flying out of NAIA on one my previous trips. No complaints. Room was less than 2k. Check-out 24 hours after you check-in, Room very nice, spacious and very clean, fast free wifi, free breakfast, free drink upon check-in, staff was great, they’ll call u a taxi to go to airport or where ever, cost 200 peso to airport or MOA. There is Papa John’s and Outback Steakhouse on way to MOA. Other restaurants and shops close by, if your looking for bars, EDSA entertainment complex is close by and is worth a visit. Overall, Great place to spend a day before you fly out, or just hang out for a day in Manila.
