Quality if a hotel
Openness to random visitors :-)
Action near by etc....

Cheers

CoD is great if you're going to have a girl with you (or find one) to enjoy a luxurious room and the disco, or if you are a foodie and into fine dining, but the gaming there is wretched for players who prefer machines over table games or live poker.

Rows upon rows of generic slots - I didn't see any of the latest IGT or Bally games one can find in Vegas - with a smattering of video poker machines near the center of the floor, with extremely poor odds - as bad as any Indian reservations or captive riverboats.

Since my orginal ask, i have had a pleasure of staying there multiple times ... and each time enjoyed my stay. Great rooms, service, food and having a Diamond status with Hyatt does not hurt either.

I would say in Manila one of the top hotels... waiting for a new hyatt to open in BGC. Cheers.

The hotel is nice but not spectacular.  It doesn't have a business center so a PITA if you need to print a ticket or something.   The new hyatt will be a Grand Hyatt but not open until a couple months yet or PI Time who knows but it will be much better.  COD Hyatt has now junior suite type rooms so for guys with expense accounts that their company pays it is not the best bet.  The New Conrad Hilton a few blocks away attached to SM MOA is having a soft opening and will be ready for regular bookings before the new Grand Hyatt so they say.  But if my company or a client is not paying I will be at the much cheaper Holiday Inn in Makati.  One issue I saw with COD Hyatt is tons of locals and they pack a room and are loud and fill the pool. Not really the type of clientele I am looking to share a pool with if I am mongoring.

I understand your points...maybe being Diamond with hyatt and way the point syatem works there, the expenses are reasonable with good upgrades in my last 10 stays there.

As for business center, correct i would not stay there if u are going to do heavy printing. However, i do have access to printing whatever/whenever i want at hyatt.

I am sure you know time square hyatt is 7 star and cod is a 5 star. Looking forward to time square and gathering bunch of pointe to use once it opens later end of the year or early next year.

I like Hilton as well, but their point system sucks. I never stay their unless it is expensed or i am in Europe. You can find great deals for Hilton brands in europe at least the times i have stayed there.
Cheers.

I've stayed at the Hyatt twice, once in a king suite and another time in a Bayview room (corner room).

The customer service there is outstanding, the bath and shower facilitys are also excellent. The TV has every single channel you could ever want and the hotel has free WIFI that's really quick.  The rooms are also quite spacious. There are numerous restaurants downstairs that are quite pricey but I do recommend the buffalow place as they sell good wings etc.

My friend stayed at the Ibis which is more expensive than Hyatt and said he much prefers hyatt for the price as the rooms are much bigger.

The BIGGEST downside to Hyatt is the location IMO. Yes its close to MOA but its far away from business places like Makati. If you're into mongering or getting girls to your room a few wont go so far as the second you mention pasay they think its a million miles away (its really close to edsa border). There's also no food places in walking distance. They will give you unlmited water bottles if you ask for them, but sometimes I jsut feel like a bag of chips or some chocolate and dont want to pay the exorbitant mini bar prices. It is close to EDSA Complex though if you're into the bar scene.

some nights if its really busy you will also have trouble getting a taxi but uber is always an option.

edit: I stayed for 2 weeks and my BIGGEST gripe was the laundry facilitys. IT IS SO SO S SO EXPENSIVE to get laundry done there and there are no laundrys near by, I had to go into makati to do my laundry as I didn't know anywhere in pasay and staff didnt know either

edit #2: Room service food is excellent, but a little pricy. HIghly recommend the pizzas

You are quite misinformed or forgetting several things but perhaps you didn't ask them.  First of all there is a Shakeys Pizza with a Gerrys Seafood Grill right next to it 1 half yes ONE Half a block behind the Hyatt COD and a 2 minute walk.  Next to that is a gas station I think Chevron or Texaco that has chips and soda ect.  The casinos in COD are open all night and will give you free soda and water anytime you want it.

Next you didn't mention the Free shuttle buses the COD has yes nice new modern airconditioned buses with leather seats only for COD people and they have run all morning until late evening to MOA FREE and back and only ten minute ride to 100's of food options.  Plus delivery if you want food from dozens of places in PI.  All three hotels in COD have access to the free shuttles so Nobu and Crown plus Hyatt can use them.

There are plenty of girls on the dating sites that would be excited to come there and edsa is a short 100 peso taxi ride. for many bars.  If you like cheap and dirty airport road is even closer with low class girls and short time rooms less than a mile away.

And the free shuttle vans and buses go to other SM malls and even Binondo Chinatown with less frequency free 7 days a week.

I was there yesterday on business trip and although my expense account doesn't make me eat from 711 I did order pizza delivery at 2am because I didn't want to leave the room.  Give the place another try.

I was surprised to discover that a number of restaurants at CoD are not listed on their web site, including a fine Taiwanese dining restaurant named "Taipei Ding Xian", a Filipino spot called Apu, a Korean place, and a gastrobar named Erwin's:

CoD ApuFilipino
CoD ErwinsGastroBar
CoD KoreanPlace
CoD TaipeiDingXian
CoD TaipeiDingXian2

The CoD web site lists these dining options:

* Nobu

* The Tasting Room

* Crystal Dragon

* NooDL 8

* Ruby Jack's Steakhouse

* The Cafe

* Wave,

* Red Ginger

   http://www.cityofdre....ph/restaurants

I only saw a few of those spots on the second floor near the casino area, so I'm not sure if the other spots are in another area, or if some of them have been closed or replaced by the spots I mentioned above. Lots of unused space up there on the second floor...

CoD2ndFloorPano

There was also a night club called "Pangaea", but the doors were locked, and I just learned that the web site is empty on the main CoD web site. I found a note on a third-party site that says they are only open on Thursday nights. I could understand reducing hours if they have fallen on hard times, but how strange that they would not open on a Friday or a Saturday?

I peeked into Chaos just before midnight on a Wednesday, and there were only a few people milling about, with some hostesses outside the door near some advertising boards for KTV rooms - apparently the discos were not doing well?

...

Next you didn't mention the Free shuttle buses the COD has yes nice new modern airconditioned buses with leather seats only for COD people and they have run all morning until late evening to MOA FREE and back and only ten minute ride to 100's of food options.

...

Some good points in your post, with the exception of the shuttle bus. Even though the CoD bus is comfy, when I last rode on it from MoA, they had a completely unnecessary delay, where the driver passed a clipboard to each passenger asking them to sign in with their name.

This was a complete waste of time, because the bus is open to the general public and not just guests of the hotel!

They easily ate up 10 minutes passing around the clipboard, which was ridiculous, because I could have stepped out and taken a taxi for the 5 minute trip to CoD in less time than it took for everyone to sign in on the clipboard.

Overall, CoD is a nice property, but I was surprised at the light volume of customers in there compared to Resorts World Manila - they need a lot more volume to keep the doors of the clubs and restaurants open - the reduction of hours for one of their two night clubs, and the apparent re-purposing of the other one to a KTV spot is not a good sign.

Apparently CoD has already gone through a round of job cuts, and they were losing 1.8 billion PHP (that's BILLION with a "b") per quarter as of last year, so who knows how long they can go at their current burn rate?

My partner and I are still planning to try the Taiwanese place on our next date night - hopefully the seafood there is as good as it looks.

We went back to CoD for a second, late-night visit to Red Ginger, reviewed here:

   http://www.philippin...s-in-paranaque/

Before and after our meal, I had a chance to walk around the property, and noticed an up-to-date map that does a much better job than the web site of showing what's available:

CoD Map

I also walked over to the Taipe Ding Xian seafood place, and took a few more photos:

The seafood is alive in their tanks::

I also took photos at the Prego italian place and the Hide Yamamoto spot:

And here's the boards for the various packages offered for the KTV rooms that are now in the Chaos room:

Nice to have a taxi instead of a trike on the way back to our condo. ;)

Some great pics there.  Here are some more.  I am there now on a short business trip in Manila.  I ate at Manila 101 the seafood place last night which I posted in the Ginger thread.

The free shuttle bus with the leather seats leaves the mall every half hour and the sign in is because it is NOT open to the public.  Those people are COD workers or hotel guests.  They have to sign in and show the driver an ID if he does not know them but most ride daily.

Here is the Shakeys and Gerrys Seafood and C-store gas station a block behind COD And the seafood place with the tanks of fish and lobster

As I stated earlier, I have actually gone for a ride on the free CoD shuttle bus from MoA, and I don't recall any indication on the sign posted at the bus stop that it was only for workers or guests of the hotel.

Have you actually looked at the sign posted at their stop at MoA?

I'll be at MoA later today, so I'll take a photo to settle the point definitively, but it would be amusing if the bus was *not* free to everyone, since any casino not managed by idiots will do anything in their power to get visitors onto their casino floor - in fact, many casinos back in the States actually *pay* people to get on their bus.

If that bus is actually restricted to hotel guests - and I was allowed to ride simply because I'm a kano - then CoD deserves to be losing the 1.8 billion PHP per quarter that was last reported.

As a visitor to every "casino" near my vicinity when I'm in the states, I vouch for what marcoshighland stated.

it's what I've been told is a "nibble" for like-businesses. Just get them in the door.

But also as he stated, PI businesses probably don't recognise that model...

Here's the sign for the shuttle bus at MoA, which has no indication that it isn't free for the general public, so I have no qualms about riding on it until they kick me off. ;)

CityOfDreamsShuttleService

Also, here's my review of the second restaurant we've visited at CoD - the Prego italian restaurant:

   http://www.philippin...s-in-paranaque/

And the Taiwanese place had a fresh shipment of more seafood in the tanks tonight, so that's a good sign it's really fresh. Looking forward to our next date night there. :)
