Thanks, @statusquo @bill44ca @hey you. Looks like a second trip to SM may be unavoidable. Will report back if I learn differently.

@  hey you : (20 June 2018 - 01:28 AM)

i live in the province dont check anything in never had a problem maybe because they know me on sight

@  statusquo : (19 June 2018 - 11:47 PM)

@bill44ca you are correct. I said size is a concern but they might put it off to the side and that is the only place I know of in SM that does this. Never know until u ask. @hey you not a bad idea but cumbersome cheers!

@  bill44ca : (19 June 2018 - 09:13 PM)

SM grocery will not let you in with bags/packages. Purses only no backpacks. My girl had a very small backpack and they made her check it. This guy was talking about luggage.

@  hey you : (19 June 2018 - 03:37 PM)

sm problem simple dont check your bags if they think your stealing let security stop you at the door on your way out

@  bill44ca : (19 June 2018 - 05:17 AM)

@p20bill if you take the Southern Cross bus they drop you off at your hotel

Though  the mayor has recently extolled a few of the local restaurants as some of the "redeeming" features in the area, I have had less success finding places worth going back to. Swiss Chalet and Tequila Reef are nice however.

Other suggestions please.

Last trip I tried Phillies for the first time, and went back three more times.  Good food, good large portions.  Live band was good but starts very late at night.

Margarita Station for breakfast.  Also the restaurant in Paradise Beer Garden for either breakfast or post-midnight dining.

Kokomos is reliable but not always fast.  Food has been good the times I have tried it, and they have a huge menu.

Had breakfast at the Blue Boar Inn (owned by Harry The Horse) too just to be able to say that I have.  It was an excuse to take a nice morning walk along Perimeter and was a reasonable price.  Fox News on cable.

Azzuro's above One-Eyed Wench was a decent place for dinner.

The steak place on the north side of Fields a little further east was actually good.

Food in A.C. overall is not world class by any means, but you can find reasonable food at a lot of places within easy walking distance all times of day or night.

I agree swiss chalet is where I go when I want a decent meal. Ac doesn't have the world class foods as the bigger cities in the phils, in ac there are some good chinese restaurants on macarthur right around corner from mcdismals. Larry at bar hoppin bar has a good mental inventory of where to eat

Niji Japanese food up on Peremiter is great. Love the grill. Great food and good prices.

A couple of Korean places up in Korea Town are very good and good value.

I like Kokomos alot.

And of course Tequila Reef is great.

I am not a fan of Phillies, Margarita Station or the Beer Garden. And I could not stand Cuba Cuba when it was open. Hopefully they will reinvent it into something good soon.

I had a burger there the other night, first time....Ended up down at Mc D`s after for a big mac meal to fill me up.

Bunny burgers taste good, but typical of most kano joints top price regular serving.

Also ordered the giant pizza at Phillies 25 inch, never seen one that big before I think is was 1,590 peso, my girl n I sat there n ate half of it had a few drinks as well, bill was about 1,850, to my surprise the bill went to 2,200 with some add on vat n service charge bullshit.

Thats just typical of aussie joints in AC, no matter how much you spend its never enuff, fuckm I wont be back.

I forgot, I enjoy the food at three hotels as well:

Pacific Breeze

Wild Orchid

Orchid Inn

All three do a reasonable job considering where you are.

The pizza is very good at what used to be called 123 Pizza but is now called Paizano's. It's located right across from the Beer Garden.

I like the Swarma from the Swarma Snack shop on Fields and from the guy that sells it near Spearmint. A couple other places sell it down some side streets near Fields and it's all good.

Cheers,

G :Beer1:

Kokomo's sucks. Nothing I've ordered there has ever been good. Service is mediocre. It's hot in there and smells like swimming pool.

Black Angus at Royal Amsterdam has been going downhill for a while now. Currently most steaks are "out of stock". Breakfasts aren't too bad, but they now close at midnight and reopen at 7 AM. So no post bar hopping breakfast there. And no more room service. It looks like they're going out of business there are so few customers in there at dinner hour.

Only eaten at Phillies once. I got the slopppy joe and had a couple of Cervesa Negras. A decent lunch. I keep meaning to go back but get side-tracked.

I went to TGI Fridays at Marquee Mall friday night. It was a pretty decent replica of what you'd see in the States.

Tequila Reef is pretty consistent, although I haven't found anything spicey yet. Even the bottled sauces they serve are all mild. Why the chili is called "Crash and Burn" is beyond me. It's actually pretty bland. The cube beef in the chili here is pretty bad, in Pattaya it's pretty good.

For a snack the Bratwurst stand outside of Lancelot isn't bad.

Sitting in Caousel one night I ordered a couple of sausages from the place out front. They were pretty decent. The pizza not so much.

Oh one more, the sushi platter at Dollhouse was good (I can see the jokes coming), enough for me and a wingman with so much that we were compelled to share with our waitress.

Swiss Chalet I had high hopes for but was a bit disappointed the one time I had lunch there.

The Dollhouse food is okay for the overall package that you get: Sit in  the Dollhouse restaurant, watch whats going on outside, service is quick, food is fresh and tastes good but of course nothing to write home about. Prices are absolutely reasonable.

The pizza in the DH restaurant is hot and seems to be fresh in contrast to the ones offered by the DH group waitresses running around in the bars.

So, yes, you can go for it once in a week, and I have to admit that I have never been there before 23:00 ... so maybe more of a midnight meal than a romatic dinner.

Fields way Tequila Reef of course., Kokomoz , but sorry not Margarita these days gone down the pan both food and especially the service.

Perimeter I like the Sunset Garden hotel restaurant very much never been disappointed  not to stay there so much but it has surprisingly good food and chef European chef taught the staff I understand  . and the Clarkton hotel one of the very best hotel restaurants  for both food and ambiance one of the best reasons why I  like to stay there if I can get in .

Well there's only a handful  of places you can eat in AC   that  are decent ,  swiss chalet  is one of them , tequilla is good as well..   but i usually go to the Diamond district to eat ,  even though its further from fields   towards angeles city   ,you will find most of the locals  eating there  but many choices and better food on average ..

Where in Diamond? Name some places and tell about them if you don't mind.
