Phuket is MANY times larger so kinda comparing Apples and Oranges. Phuket does not have the sewage and seaweed problems. Phuket attracts HUGE crowds but still has some very nice beaches.

I agree Maira Ira is one of best beaches in the entire country. WAY more scenic than Boracay was even before it was ruined.

It's a lovely area with picturesque beaches, some amenities but not over done...

I have to check out Maira. Sounds nice. I've been to Boracay 3 times over the last 5 years the last being last year. It has definitely become more commercial but still a good place to enjoy a sweet woman a little more.

You know it's both funny and indicative regarding what people say about the conditions in Boracay. I have not been there yet cuz I'm kinda lazy. However, I am going to go there sometime in 2018, just so I can see things for myself and there WILL be pics of the scenery. I don't do pics of girls, but I do scenery fairly well. I can think of 3 good friends here in town that have been to Boracay in the past year or less. Two of the three are frequent visitors there. They love Boracay obviously or they wouldn't be going there trip after trip. I'm not sure why(well, yes I am) it seems so much negative is said about so many things regarding the Phils. Now, there are definitely things worth complaining about, but why live here or visit, if they're so bad?

I'm looking at getting a second home in Thailand soon, but I don't hate everything here. Two things bother me cuz I can't fix them and that's the food and the culture as it relates to foreigners. Usually, I can work around both to some degree of satisfaction, but at times I get a little pissed off at one or the other. Those two conditions do NOT make me hate the place, or to lie about how this or that though. I have disproved quite a few false narratives since I retired here, one being how bad Comclark is and how bad the bay is in Subic. I have no reason to believe I won't be able to do the same in Boracay.

My problem was booking for 10 days there, kinda got boring after a bit. For the most part I loved it.Food is great in most places, beaches and the water were as good if not better as anywhere else I have visited.
Taking a girl you like there would impress her I'm sure.

No one is saying Boracay is a nuclear bomb site. Go and work out what you like and don't like about it.... There is plenty to offer.

You could use the same comparison to Manila... Manila is a bit of a hole and has lots of bad press, but most people find places and things they enjoy about it. They even go therefore a week or buy an apartment. Everyone is different.

As I said.. everyone should go to Boracay atleast once to see for themselves.

There are plenty that are saying:

1. Boracay is too crowded.

2. Boracay is overflowing with Koreans.

3. The water is nothing but sewage everywhere.

4. It's been so overpopulated and built up over the last 20yrs that it's almost unbearable to go back there.(Said by many)

5. Station 1 is too blah, Station 2 is too crowded, Station 3 is too boring. It's the same ole BS.

6. The hotels either suck, are dilapidated, are too expensive, or all three.

That's what's been said by too many for my taste and I'm gonna prove them wrong with pics and first hand experience cuz that's what I love to do. Then PG will be next after that.

1. Boracay is too crowded.

I was there in high season always seats in bars and Restaurants sunbeds easily available

2. Boracay is overflowing with Koreans.

Korean Couples yes hand in hand, not much effect on the limited mongering opportunities

3. The water is nothing but sewage everywhere.

    Saw nothing of the sort

4. It's been so overpopulated and built up over the last 20yrs that it's almost unbearable to go back there.(Said by many)

Built up yes, a lot of hotels going up, but not unbearable, enough restaurants and bars to cope .

5. Station 1 is too blah, Station 2 is too crowded, Station 3 is too boring. It's the same ole BS.

It is 15 minutes walk from 1 to 3 something for everyone

6. The hotels either suck, are dilapidated, are too expensive, or all three.

Rented an apartment so not sure on this but all looked good from outside, pools were mostly empty for what ever reason.

If you compare it to Blackpool or Subic, Boracay might seem just grand. Actually,if White beach was in Europe the beach would be closed as a public health menace.  If coliform levels got to even half the levels in Boracay the beach would be closed.  White beach would be Black flagged if it was in Europe.  So if you like swimming in sewage have at it!  Try Pattaya too!

Point 1  beyond dispute.

Point 2: AND Chinese!

Point 3: Bulabog and Yapak not so bad as White beach.

Point 4: AMEN!

Point 5. Yapak AKA Puka Shell Beach is the best place on the island. Not completely ruined yet like White Beach.  Much better water quality too.  Best dive site, although deep so for advanced only, and still only soso IMHO.

Point 6. Quality of hotels is not the problem. That has never been an issue; quite the contrary the variety of quality hotels is unequaled anywhere else on a beach in the PI. But if top  hotels are your priority Makati has no peer in the PI.

Yes you prompted me to read up on some articles from 2015. Not good reading, I can only comment that I did not see any turds floating and there wasn't much evidence of Algae and seaweed.

I only swam in the water in front of the stations though. Im not hard enough to swim in the North Sea in Blackpool its so fucking cold in the height of summer Penguins wouldn't survive there.

Cornwall is the only place I venture into the sea in the UK/

If your going to Boracay for the first time it might be like a guy going to Angeles for first time this year, he think this is good but guys who been there 20 years before may think different.

Boracay like Angeles before was possible only known about by guys who had been there , not like today discovered by guys searching on the internet

I agree somewhat.

12 years ago the expats I met said that Boracay was ruined 10 years ago.

I could easily say the same thing - Boracay was ruined 10 years ago.

But, there really is something for everyone in Boracay.  But it takes a bit more to find it.

Although, I have to agree that the Korean and Chinese tour groups along with the super-busy traffic on the main road have all made for a bit more unpleasant experience.

The other thing is that it is not cheap.  Boracay is Manila prices for everything.  It takes a keen eye to keep prices down.

Hah, well the first time I went, in 1986, the old geezers said it was ruined. Last time I went, in 1994, I could see what they meant. No urge to go back; once you know how things go in the PI and you're prepared to take the rough with the smooth, there are a thousand other islands to visit, still pristine, that your newly-enabled Asian tourist hasn't yet visited.

Boracay is crap! AC is over ! People tend to think everything was better when they discovered it and most people being glass is half empty people say the place they loved when they discovered it is going to shit now. If alot of people are still going to a place chances are there is a good reason
