Because human-rights groups have agenda's it's that simple, and they don't get any mileage from the Marawi incident.

@  BGC Dude : (25 May 2017 - 01:12 AM)

@  Budhah : (24 May 2017 - 07:51 PM)

Just announced on Fox news that the Martial law may go nation wide, because of Isis killing in the South. Fear of it spreading to rest of the PI.

@  doctor who : (24 May 2017 - 06:36 AM)

Martial Law, stopped me in my tracks last night,, travelling between Mati, and Davao , at 9pm stopped at a road side Army inspection setup, everybody off the bus, walk through the inspection area then back on the bus, only to get stuck behind a military convoy,,

@  willie50 : (24 May 2017 - 05:41 AM)

martial law has not affected san Francisco and prosperidad on Mindanao at this moment. usually a lot of soldiers n check points

@  Pukpuk : (23 May 2017 - 11:58 PM)

@FurryFriend Start a topic and stop crowding the Shoutbox if you are going to go on about it.

@  Pukpuk : (23 May 2017 - 11:57 PM)

@FurryFriend So you have experienced Martial law have you? Well I have and I tell you it is slightly inconvenient but not to the stage you wouldn't go there. FFS you love a troll or two don't you.

@  FurryFriend : (23 May 2017 - 11:48 PM)

http://www.rappler.com/nation/170754-davao-city-lockdown-marawi-attack Davao City mayor "urged visitors to cancel their trips to Davao unless [its] very important...[and] said that if they don't want to be thoroughly inspected in multiple checkpoints, they should not come..." That doesn't sound like a rocking fun place for a week-long mongering trip.

@  FurryFriend : (23 May 2017 - 11:20 PM)

Martial law means so much more than a curfew. It's about having mobility restricted, roads closed, stores closed, flights cancelled, and possible loss of conveniences like cellphone, ATM or internet services. These are all hinderences to mongering. If there was martial law in Pampanga, you can bet AC bars will all be closed. Furthermore, martial law grants the military ability to perform civilian law enforcement. It will not be a fun moment in the Philippines when soldiers with very powerful weapons stops you, asks you questions, then demands to frisk you.

I doubt it would be a problem so long as the room type you booked is for 2/3 guests. If it's just for 2 then they might get fun.
Lot of Families stay at Mangrove, so they might just be ignoring you?
Treasure Island isn't that much further and I would guess a little cheap, on a big beach and close to the floating bars.
You can call Mangrove, or chance it and just rock up and ask before you check-in. If the answers no carry on down to TI.
Or, just go to TI!

Yes you are right, they might just be ignoring me if they are family friendly. It's a shame as I am a well behaved guest, just might wind up back with two ladies one night who knows! I've booked into Treasure Island and will post about how it works out.

Check out http://www.bythesea.com.ph/. Right in the middle of the action. Like all hotels in the Barrio, the cheap rooms are crap (even the expensive rooms :) ). However, nice cheap restaurant on the beach and like I said, right in the middle of the action. And quiet, if that appeals to you.

Thank you for booking TI.  I think you will find us to be very accommodating and easy to get along with.  Honestly no one counts how many girls you bring to your room at night with you or even really cares.  Enjoy your stay and please get with me or Jerry if you need any assistance or advice.  You will find Jerry to be a walking encyclopedia of the Subic area.  :)

Check out Suzuki Beach hotel Binjalin. Jap owned and very clean. Nice pool (although a bit shallow) and located on the beach near to the action.

Suzuki beach pool was dirty and discoloured when I was there about 3 weeks ago. I had to remind housekeeping staff to change the sheets and towels everyday, rather that just remake the bed and refold the towels.
I'm pretty sure I got a chest infection as a result of that pool, which I stopped using.
It was way overpriced, for what you get, there are definitely better hotels.
I couldn't and wouldn't reccomend it.

Whoa...

Hope you feel better soon, if you're not already.

Maybe someone in management will read your post and make corrective actions.

Thanks BM jeffjones for the review.

Mangrove looks great but not very near the bars?  I really want walking distance  (i.e. few minutes). Suzuki's photos look drab and old to be honest.

Drab and old is about it. The only thing going is the location. Beach front, with a pool, centrally located and set back from the road (and the traffic noise). But its overpriced for what you get and doesn't live up to expectations.
Icove is similar, newer, better specs and about the same price.

PS I've stayed at the pub (as mentioned above) its good value but ask for a room at the back (the traffic noise is bad) plus the WiFi is always crap (as confirmed by local girls who visit there, cough cough) But there's WiFi everywhere else so not insurmountable.

I've also stayed at blue rock (a few yrs ago) and liked that too, the beach facing rooms were nice but its a hike or a trike ride to the action and baloy road is crap to walk or trike. Their "pool" is little more than a giant paddling pool for kids, the restaurant is good but pricey.

Next time I intend to mix it up and try a few hotels, book one for a couple of days, then either extend or do the walk up thing.

Stayed in a deluxe room at the pub and have no complaints. Some kids were living it up in the side alley during the day but that's what kids do. Strong AC, nice crew, the chow is good in the bar and they have a hot/cold water dispenser on the first floor.  No walk of shame to talk about, the hot chicks at the desk just smile at you when you pass.  Laundry is like three doors down and 66p for a respectable load so it's basically fuck all per kilo. I wish I had stayed here last year.

I must say I have been hugely disappointed when searching hotels in the action at Subic and may have to stay outside the main area and get transport in. I'm looking for something like the Lewis Grand in Angeles and am not interested in a  'budget' hotel. Still not found what I'm looking for as mangrove appears fully booked.

How about Wild Orchid on B. Beach? That's the big one. BB is a rather small area, I didn't notice any 5-star luxury hotels there.

There's great beach front suites at Mangos. Lounge over the beach, bedroom on the courtyard, 24 hour resto and very good food.
 Shoot me a PM.
