Guys we ask that you guys continue to help us in our ultimate goal in keep this forum free of board enemies, previously banned members and trolls on Philippines Addicts. Here's is a little guide on how to spot them as soon as possible mitigating their overall infestation period. Both complete fabrication and truths are very transparent and easy to spot. Some people love to spread lies therefore using this board for their own selfish agenda. We ask that you keep the following in mind when reading a new thread or post.

If you feel a particular thread or post is suspect, first look at a board member's profile and see how many posts they have made thus far and how long they have been a member. This information reveals a lot. For example, if somebody is posting about something that happened on the board months or years prior then they are obviously a previously banned member. This also holds true if they make reference to a long time board member who might have a reputation for one thing or another. These are obvious "Freudian slips" which can easily reveal everything. Please report such instances immediately and they shall be dealt with immediate banning.

If a first time or relatively new member make a series of replies to specific threads in a short period of time all with basically negative or even hateful remarks, this is an obvious troll. Please report this piece of trash as soon as possible. They won't be around that much longer and this is the only case when all posts are removed from the database.

More creative and probably the most pathetic are the ones who put up facade by establishing a misguided trust in order to gain advanced membership. Then they will engage in more clever methods of trolling posting threads designed to insight hateful debate or even political in nature. These members overall intent are both destructive and selfish in nature. This category of individual is dealt with in a rather nebulous and thoughtful manner certainly on a case by case basis. We appreciate the insight and reports received from various board members in the past and we hope you continue to help us weed these people out. These people engage in showing photos of the girls to them as "Knights in shining armor" basically stabbing all of us in the back for their own personal satisfaction. As mentioned before, these people deserve a public flogging at the least. If legal, I believe a medieval quartering is in order but that's just me.

There are obvious variations of the above but this pretty much covers how to spot something that should be irradiated as quickly as possible. This is paramount in keeping Philippines Addicts as friendly and helpful as possible. Sure we all have bad days and aren’t in the mood for certain redundancies.

With that in mind, we are devising a new article or page redirect that any new member must read which basically gives them a guide on answering the important but repetitive newbie questions of “how to get to Angeles from Manila” or “How Much For hotel In Manila”, etc. We hope this will alleviate these type questions and any suggestions you guys might have to include we are always asking for and receiving your knowledgeable help. Thanks in advance there

The fact of the matter is this board receives a lot of newbie’s and shall continue to do so at an even higher level. Right now you are looking at about 30 sometimes 40 new validated members a day. We ban many others daily as well. This trend means the forum will grow exponentially as many of you have witnessed though the years. The quality of member is our main concern along with the diversity. Thus the need for this article.

Philippines Addicts has shifted its traffic demographic considerably over the years. Now 55% of the traffic this site receives is from the Philippines itself. That speaks volumes on many levels but then again it’s grown to 4 times the size since its 20-25% from the Philippines 4 or 5 years ago.

This ad is here because Agoda has changed their policies on hotel bookings regarding affiliates. Agoda is now completely deleting the 365 day cookie along with removing any subsequent
bookings brought though your bookings. Philippines Addicts used to get credit for this along with anybody booking through Agoda 365 days after they initially clicked on our link. With this said, we ask you click on any of these Agoda links when making a booking through Agoda so we can get credit for your booking. It costs you nothing and helps us out a lot. We appreciate your understanding to this truly unfortunately fact. Please click on these Agoda links to help Philippines Addicts get credit where it is due, thanks! Book your Philippines Hotel Here and Now! . We have also added Bookings.com as an affiliate and another choice for you guys to get the best possible deal on booking hotel rooms. Again, this costs you nothing. We ask that you please use the Booking.com links found throughout this site so we can get credit for your hotel booking. It's best to try both websites to get the best possible deal. Please use the links provided on this site, thanks!

If you already booked your rooms and/or you don't use Agoda or Bookings.com we'd appreciate it if you could
for board administration, expenses and improvements if you find this site useful to your needs.

Do you maintain a database of the IP addresses of banned members? I know that IP addresses change but they can be useful for location and ISP comparisons. Other useful tools would be the user agent (browser) and whether or not the user is using a known vpn. It may also be possible to set a cookie indicating that the person is banned. I know all these can be sneaked around but many users may not know how or be aware.

Many board members are quite adept at identifying writing styles as well.

You could write a script to check the IP matrix of new applicants against a banned member database on sqlite and flag them for watching.

We usually ban the IP as well which stops them dead in their tracks when re-registering as the registration automatically is banned.

I think there are some sort of syntax programs that pick out writing styles.  It goes over my head but something along those lines are out there.

And hello Kahoy ..

Some guys can't help themselves in their writing styles, they come back as a new member and the writing style and word usage is the same...so some can be picked quite easily...

Not sure if your forum base program allows but you may be able to use MAC addresses. Yes, they are spoofable but it takes a little effort. The problem with ip tracking is the use of dynamic ips by internet providers. Just a thought.

On the point about repetitive newbie questions, I've never had much luck with the search function on any IPBoard site. PIaN uses the same software, and I just can't find what I'm looking for most of the time on either site.  The same holds true on lots of computer-related boards that use the same software. You can get lots better results sometimes by googling your keywords followed by the phrase "site:philippines-addicts.com."

So don't blame the newbies automatically -- only sometimes :) -- when they post an often-answered question.

Second point is that the answers change frequently as well.

In short, I don't have any problem scrolling past this type of post. And sometimes I learn something new. And third, are the guys you're trying to keep off the board attracted to this kind of post in the first place?

The individuals this post is pointed at are basically previously banned members or just people without a life looking to destroy others and or their way of life. Particular writing styles is known as Stylometry which is basically everyone's writing fingerprint. There are mind blowing programs out there dealing with this along with plagiarism.  People have certain syntax and sentence structures that are burned into them whether they know it or not.

We obviously won't reveal our entire procedure but I must say I'm amazed at the progression of software available for free that covers everything mentioned in this thread and a hell of a lot more. With that said, there is a tremendous amount of "hands on" work done by everyone behind the screens along with helpful board members that will always be the backbone of this board. Certain things will always require people who care enough about something to do the right thing.

Anybody could go crazy on "artificial intelligence" software but the fact shall always remain that any good forum or message board MUST have great admins and members alike. I'd like somebody to put a bullet in my head the day that becomes untrue.

Not sure if writing styles are that unique. Some Board Members were accusing me of being some other guy.

And, they were completely convinced. I do not think they were being deceptive, they honestly thought I was this other guy.

What probably made it clear that there was no connection is that I was a previously active member that went silent for a long time.

So, my account might have predated this other guy.

Somehow it must have gotten cleared up because the accusations were coming, and then they suddenly stopped.

Just to throw one possibility in there before assuming it's a banned member. I joined this forum in 2013 (I had to check, hehe) but for various reasons the past couple of years I haven't been here much. When I logged in a couple of months ago after quite awhile, if I had chosen to request and was granted a new membership instead of using my existing account, then I would show as a new member but I have experiences on this board older than my sign up date would have been. Lots of people when they can't remember their log in details will say fuck it and seek a new account.

Not trying to throw a spanner in the works, but when somebody signs up as a new member are they asked if they've ever been a member of the board before? If not it might be an idea to ask, or even better if there is a suspicion of them for some reason ask them at that point before dropping the guillotine. Cheers.
