Just announced on Fox news that the Martial law may go nation wide, because of Isis killing in the South. Fear of it spreading to rest of the PI.

Martial Law, stopped me in my tracks last night,, travelling between Mati, and Davao , at 9pm stopped at a road side Army inspection setup, everybody off the bus, walk through the inspection area then back on the bus, only to get stuck behind a military convoy,,

@  willie50 : (24 May 2017 - 05:41 AM)

martial law has not affected san Francisco and prosperidad on Mindanao at this moment. usually a lot of soldiers n check points

@FurryFriend So you have experienced Martial law have you? Well I have and I tell you it is slightly inconvenient but not to the stage you wouldn't go there. FFS you love a troll or two don't you.

@  FurryFriend : (23 May 2017 - 11:48 PM)

http://www.rappler.com/nation/170754-davao-city-lockdown-marawi-attack Davao City mayor "urged visitors to cancel their trips to Davao unless [its] very important...[and] said that if they don't want to be thoroughly inspected in multiple checkpoints, they should not come..." That doesn't sound like a rocking fun place for a week-long mongering trip.

@  FurryFriend : (23 May 2017 - 11:20 PM)

Martial law means so much more than a curfew. It's about having mobility restricted, roads closed, stores closed, flights cancelled, and possible loss of conveniences like cellphone, ATM or internet services. These are all hinderences to mongering. If there was martial law in Pampanga, you can bet AC bars will all be closed. Furthermore, martial law grants the military ability to perform civilian law enforcement. It will not be a fun moment in the Philippines when soldiers with very powerful weapons stops you, asks you questions, then demands to frisk you.

Hello I need some advice. I get into Subic on May5th, what hotels do you all like there? I admit I try to stay in a clean basic hotel and spend my PHP on the ladies. At best they might wake up in the morning all depends...

I wanted a good place to eat along with a place you would put your  wingman in not a shithole. If you guys know of any place you would recommend I would appreciate the advice. I heard a story up in AC last year this guy comes into the bar and starts off he got bed bugs down in Subic. I can deal with roaches and other vermin but bed bugs and crabs freak me out. Thanks again and I will take all advice I can get. I am looking to stay in Subic for a week till I have to head back to AC.

                                                            Adios

I would pick Treasure Island, Sheavens, or Arizona, but haven't tried the newer places yet.

In Baloy, I've stayed at Johan's, Treasure Island (great pool!) , and Sheaven's (pretty nice pool) and enjoyed my time at each one.  Spent more time at Sheaven's.

In Barretto I've stayed at Palm Tree (has a pool--) the noise from next door should be done by now), Bay Leaf (cheap, there as well--the noise should be finished with), and Playa Papagayo (great Mexican-themed food and the best blended margarita's).

Can't go wrong in Subic.  Quite a few times I've rolled up without a reservation and easily found a place, however, it will serve you well to make a res.

I've been wanting to check out ICove.  Check out Lantau's pics.

Thanks I liked the location of the hotel and the markets. I know I will pay the skin tax for shopping but I am good with that I like to shop everywhere I go. I get more ass than a toilet seat in markets. See you guys in about 2 weeks. I have not been to Subic in a long time. Thanks for the hotel suggestions  Adios

Usually stay at Sheavens lately. Me and the Mrs get a sea side and put the kids and other tag alongs in the annex. Nice pool, good food, and great view with a small little beach . Just stayed a Mangrove, new hotel, had a street side room. I don't know the price as wife payed but it wasn't a lot. Every thing brand new and worked.Nice beds and pillows. No bugs there. For a tighter budget check The Pub or Blue Lagoon. Haven't stayed at either for a few years, ok for the price then, maybe someone can up date the current state of affairs at either for you??

Have stayed at Papagayo a few times till last trip, they were whinging about corkage fees for bringing red horse into the room and trying to make us pay up straight away amongst other things so we bailed. They should have just called it even with the bottle refunds. We did have a few fun times in the rooms near the beach early 2012. Prices have gone up though..

You can go wrong in Subic/Barretto, Subic Mirage, that place to the left of Papagayo, with the ATM at the front was a fucken dirty dive.. Cum stained sheets, fucked up bathrooms, loads of cockroach and just general filth. The only place worse i've staged was probably Niagra in AC

Since those 2, we've always stayed at Subic Pearl. Nice new clean rooms, flat screen TV's and fairly predictable (i hate hotel staff making hassles which is all too common in PI). Food is pretty average though..

Would be keen to try Arizona sometime from its recommendations around the boards.

Arizona's my choice. Decent rooms - love the mirrors - great food, Score Bar on site and floating bar (in season). Close to the action.

I'm told it works well but no firsthand experienced as I stay well away from the internet while on a holiday.

The Mirrors might well put fat basted and or pangit  dudes I see all the time in AC and Subic  off booking one of these very blue rooms , . but if your not shy or very handsome man enough to show your self in the big mirror then its often mentioned cant be overlooked the hotel is top notch , comes with great Aussie management food and Scores bar on site ,,adds up to number one on Trip Advisor customer reviews I noticed.

Ah, fortunately I'm neither fat nor pangit....but I agree, there are far too many of those awful types around  in AC and Subic.  Some are old too.

I can not understand why you keep pushing Trip Ad visor as a source for good information. I've posted this before (in response to your continued use of their information). That site is terribly flawed. First, you read one review about a place that says it's awful, and the next review raves about it. Second, they accept advertising. And, like other reference sites, paid advertisers' establishments receive preferential placements. Lastly, recently we were approached by a firm specializing in maximizing Internet presence. They have 15 offices around the world and apparently have a way to submit reviews utilizing multiple IP addresses. Their offer was to post reviews (good or bad) on several sites with Trip Ad visor being their prime target. I believe much better information is available via this (and other) sites.

Lastly, Let me plug Treasure Island and Paradise. TI has some of the best food in town, clean comfortable and safe rooms and, of course, this:

Attached File  pool.jpg   106.48KB   38 downloads

Attached File  pool2.jpg   186.18KB   41 downloads

Attached File  pool3.jpg   220.42KB   38 downloads

If you'd prefer a more central location, Paradise is almost exactly in the center of the action. Rooms range from P1,600 to P1,900, it's attached to the Dryden Diner and 5 yes FIVE of the best bars in town (Buccaneer, Lollipop, Rapscallion, Rum Jungle and Wet Spot).

I don't want to get into a pissing contest with you about T.A. I have stated what I know is true about their policies and practices. And, please don't slant my comments with your skewed interpretation. I have clearly stated that Arizona is a class operation with class management. But, there are excellent alternatives. Your insinuations to the contrary, TI has a phenomenal reputation with our guests. Our occupancy rivals any hotel in town, and our repeat business speaks volumes for the service and management (current). What I do believe is that, you, in the past under a different nic, have made other snide comments about our operations and glowing comments about other businesses that are questionable, that you have little experience in Subic/Barretto and you are a bit of a troll.

As far as your first sentence; I have made it clear that Paradise guests have unfettered access to the best beach side pool in the area. That coupled with the best location in town and being attached to 5 of the best bars in town make it an outstanding venue and value.
