Martial Law, stopped me in my tracks last night,, travelling between Mati, and Davao , at 9pm stopped at a road side Army inspection setup, everybody off the bus, walk through the inspection area then back on the bus, only to get stuck behind a military convoy,,

@  willie50 : (24 May 2017 - 05:41 AM)

martial law has not affected san Francisco and prosperidad on Mindanao at this moment. usually a lot of soldiers n check points

@  Pukpuk : (23 May 2017 - 11:57 PM)

@FurryFriend So you have experienced Martial law have you? Well I have and I tell you it is slightly inconvenient but not to the stage you wouldn't go there. FFS you love a troll or two don't you.

@  FurryFriend : (23 May 2017 - 11:48 PM)

http://www.rappler.com/nation/170754-davao-city-lockdown-marawi-attack Davao City mayor "urged visitors to cancel their trips to Davao unless [its] very important...[and] said that if they don't want to be thoroughly inspected in multiple checkpoints, they should not come..." That doesn't sound like a rocking fun place for a week-long mongering trip.

@  FurryFriend : (23 May 2017 - 11:20 PM)

Martial law means so much more than a curfew. It's about having mobility restricted, roads closed, stores closed, flights cancelled, and possible loss of conveniences like cellphone, ATM or internet services. These are all hinderences to mongering. If there was martial law in Pampanga, you can bet AC bars will all be closed. Furthermore, martial law grants the military ability to perform civilian law enforcement. It will not be a fun moment in the Philippines when soldiers with very powerful weapons stops you, asks you questions, then demands to frisk you.

Now bars are closing, bar fines are disappearing, maybe Margaritaville will regain its former glory of THE place to go when the bars shut up shop?

I used to end up in there almost every night, 3am to about 7am, then wander down to Airwolf or Tequila Queen outside bar, or anywhere else that was open and had drunks to gasbag with.

I finally had a good cheeseburger in AC today. At Margarita Station. I've been to McD, JollyB, Bunny Burger and Puzzles to name a few. All crap. At least McD was edible. Bunny Burger deepfried the meat to a petrified glob, Puzzles was precooked, dry and tasteless. Oh, and I ate one at Swagman and that was also precooked and dry. Ordered a cheeseburger, but not cheese. I wonder if the cooks even know that a cheeseburger is supposed to have cheese.

But Margarita was oh so good. Burger was fresh and hot. Cheese was not Filipino cheese and actually melted. Fries were homemade and fried crispy golden brown. And they had all the right condiments I wanted - mayo, mustard, tobasco and catsup.

I don't see a whole lot of difference in the quality or price between Margarita Station, Phillies and Kokomo's. Quick reasonable meals at reasonable prices. I like to watch the parade of people walking by, and the vendors do become a little annoying. For this reason I prefer Margarita Station, where you sit behind the screen.

I go to Margaritas to sober up a bit and order a chop suey with chicken.

It come's 30 minutes later full of cabbage and carrots , but have to hunt the chicken!

Call the waitress over and she says ok i will check the grammage of chicken that should be  in chop suey/ WTF

Basically this place takes the piss out of late night diners, avoid don't go there if you want a late night/early morning meal

Funny I never have those problems there and there is plenty of meat in all the Thai and other dishes I order from there.  Best 24 hour eatery in AC.  Phillies, Kokomos and Bretto's Grill are not nearly as good.

Used to eat here all the time but now it's just way over priced and on hot days it's swelling inside making it not comfortable to eat your meal while sweating. The food itself is somewhat consistent but the prices are crazy. You can get the same or comparable just down the road for half the price

I love a good cheese burger, went to Charlies on the Bend for lunch a few days ago and ordered a cheese burger. I like mayo on my burger so asked for mayo, opened the burger and saw a little bit of yellow stuff on the bun. Scraped a bit off with a knife and gave a taste to my son who said dad what the heck is that!

The meat itself was lost in a massive amount of lettuce and didn't even come close to the circumference of the bun. Many a time when Sal and Andrew were around had some great burgers, never again I'm sorry to say. I did ask the cook where's the beef and cheese! Sir, that's the way we make it!

Ah well another one off my list.

I've been to Margarita Station many times. I like the older, relaxed vibe of the interior. It's comfortable. Service is better than most restaurants in Philippines. Usually a waitress approaches me as soon as I sit down, but occasionally I have to wave someone down to initiate my first order. They're always quick to ask if I want a refill as soon as I put down an empty glass or if I want my plate taken away as soon as I finish the last bite. Food is decent, it's consistent and tastes better than most other places in the same price range. Reasonably priced food and drinks. Door guards are especially friendly to regulars, will treat you like their best buddy if you go in enough. Flies can be a bit bothersome near the window at times but not a deal breaker for me.

I've always been a fan of their Thai dishes. They have salpicao too, just like back in the Subic base days. Nobody else has it that I know of. Prices have really risen over the years though.

I miss the stupid tex mex burrito. It was like sloppy joes in a tortilla, but spicy. They 86'd it so I guess nobody else liked it :D

Gotta choose your meals carefully in maggotville as for the most part it's a clip joint. The irony of course is that many guys go there for the pure nostalgia of the place but fail to notice that their prices rise as quickly as the barfines.

Drinks and food are somewhat okay, service could be better. I once used there taxi service to pick me up from NAIA in Manila, service was 100%.

Their daily specials, Thu/Sat Mongolian BBQ and some of the Thai dishes are a good value and recommended.  Food is usually served in less than 20 minutes.  I've eaten there more than a hundred times and can count the bad experiences on one hand.

Some minor complaints:  They seem to be skimping on the tomato on their burgers lately.  Used to be you'd get at least three small slices.  Now you get only one or two.  Also, it's often hard to get the attention of the waitresses once your meal has started, or finished.  Sometimes I think I need to shoot a flare gun into the air.

Here's a calendar of their daily specials.  Click on each item to see details.

I frankly have tried eating and drinking but see no reason to even go in the place.

It's popular though for sure lots of guys drinking about but no eye candy except occasionals walking past if you just want to sit behind a dirty screen and try to catch a glimpse.

This place, you either like or or don't.  Quite a split.  But for me it's a thumbs up on the dishes I like, as the menu is huge.  For me better than Phillies, Kokomo's, Bretto's Grill and TR.   This place always gets some of my food dollars, especially because I love take out between 1 AM and 3 AM.

I've ate here often in years past and the food was good. Last was etime it just didnt' quite seem to be upto par for some reason. Perhaps an off day or I just ordered something I didn't like..

Had the same experience last time. No baby back ribs. Cold fries. Fried rice horrible. Will still go back. But instead of eating there for 7 days.,that one off day was enough
