Because human-rights groups have agenda's it's that simple, and they don't get any mileage from the Marawi incident.

@  BGC Dude : (25 May 2017 - 01:12 AM)

Just announced on Fox news that the Martial law may go nation wide, because of Isis killing in the South. Fear of it spreading to rest of the PI.

@  doctor who : (24 May 2017 - 06:36 AM)

Martial Law, stopped me in my tracks last night,, travelling between Mati, and Davao , at 9pm stopped at a road side Army inspection setup, everybody off the bus, walk through the inspection area then back on the bus, only to get stuck behind a military convoy,,

@  willie50 : (24 May 2017 - 05:41 AM)

martial law has not affected san Francisco and prosperidad on Mindanao at this moment. usually a lot of soldiers n check points

@  Pukpuk : (23 May 2017 - 11:58 PM)

@FurryFriend Start a topic and stop crowding the Shoutbox if you are going to go on about it.

@  Pukpuk : (23 May 2017 - 11:57 PM)

@FurryFriend So you have experienced Martial law have you? Well I have and I tell you it is slightly inconvenient but not to the stage you wouldn't go there. FFS you love a troll or two don't you.

@  FurryFriend : (23 May 2017 - 11:48 PM)

http://www.rappler.com/nation/170754-davao-city-lockdown-marawi-attack Davao City mayor "urged visitors to cancel their trips to Davao unless [its] very important...[and] said that if they don't want to be thoroughly inspected in multiple checkpoints, they should not come..." That doesn't sound like a rocking fun place for a week-long mongering trip.

@  FurryFriend : (23 May 2017 - 11:20 PM)

Martial law means so much more than a curfew. It's about having mobility restricted, roads closed, stores closed, flights cancelled, and possible loss of conveniences like cellphone, ATM or internet services. These are all hinderences to mongering. If there was martial law in Pampanga, you can bet AC bars will all be closed. Furthermore, martial law grants the military ability to perform civilian law enforcement. It will not be a fun moment in the Philippines when soldiers with very powerful weapons stops you, asks you questions, then demands to frisk you.

Was shocked by Shakey's pizza in Manila actually being quite tasty. The Shakey's pizza in California that I used to go to as a kid was absolute garbage.

The thicker crust pizzas at Shakey's are fine. The thin ones, not so...but that's a personal preference.

One good thing about Shakeys is you can order it from abroad and deliver it to your favorite sweetheart. You can pay with PayPal or major CC. They even accept membership card too. Personally, I prefer Pizza Hut more than Sharkey's in PHP.

Just went to order "buy one take one" thing with my Shakey's card. I paid and took the receipt, they will deliver it soon. I looked at the receipt when I got home and found that they put somebody else's rewards card number on the order. We'll see what the delivery guy says when he gets there. Probably some employees card. They even checked my card before ordering that it's still valid etc. What an idiotic thing to do, risk your job to get some rewards points to be able to buy pizza. Maybe I'm wrong, soon we will know.

Dam, I doubt they will lose their job over it. Employees, managers and owners collude in many cases in the PI. 7/11 and Mini Stop employees rip customers off every day and they hang on for years. You very much do have to check tour change and have good situation awareness or you will be ripped off/short changed or some such foolishness. That's my opinion.

Cheers,

Update: Had a long discussion with the delivery guy when he first came here. To cut a long discussion short, he first said that maybe my card had expired and they did me a favour by swiping somebody else's card. That wasn't the case since they even checked when I came in there that my card was valid. He said he will come back, took my card and said the points will be  transfered to my card if there was a mistake.

He came back after 30min and said that they don't give points when you get that "promo", and that they made a mistake by swiping somebody else's card when no card was to be swiped for rewards points in that case. I'm not gonna debate about the whole thing and just let it go, don't really give a shit. I just found the whole thing amusing since this is the first time that I think I witnessed first hand a petty stupid "fraud" here. Maybe it was an honest mistake, maybe not. I checked and he was telling the truth about that when you get pizza delivered you don't get points, because you get another free pizza. Something tells me that they are swiping their own cards when a customer pays at the restauraunt for delivery, if that's true, the only loser is Shakey's, not the customers.

I agree and disagree. If an employee is caught red handed stealing from a customer, the employee might actually get fired (depends on the company. If the employee does the same for the company, will for sure get fired. About that I've heard many stories. Mainly assistans stealing from the boss.

All right. Seems a bit of an ordeal that I will not put up with for a pizza. Thanks, for telling of the experience.

There is no ordeal except the one he made lol.

I order from them now and then.  It's a good deal with the card.  No reward points but it's a free pizza lol.

Greasy pizza, though.  Have to be in a certain mood for it.

I agree it's a good deal. Vegetarian pizza wasn't as greasy as the pepperoni which was swimming in grease. I find that most vegetarian pizzas in the Philippines taste the best, maybe partly because they have to use real "fresh" ingredients and not processed crap (hopefully).

I was thoroughly unimpressed by Yellow cab. Not saying Shakey's or Sbarro were any better but I sought out yellow cab on my last trip and let's just say I won't do that again.

Had the same experience. Maybe I struck a bad one but only two flavors of juice, nothing else to drink. First two toppings ordered were unavailable. What's with the paper cups and plastic cutlery in a sit down restaurant that is more expensive then Shakeys? Pizza was ordinary. I'd heard good things about Yellow Cab but first time was last time for me. Shakeys has always been consistent. Not fantastic but okay with service usually good.

My wife likes the fried chicken, mojos (potatoes), and the chocolate shakes, at Shakey's.

Lately I have been eating Sbarro because they have 1 slice of cheese pizza for p49.  For the price, you can hardly beat that.  Been going on for months... not sure how long it will last.
