Because human-rights groups have agenda's it's that simple, and they don't get any mileage from the Marawi incident.

@  BGC Dude : (25 May 2017 - 01:13 AM)

@  BGC Dude : (25 May 2017 - 01:12 AM)

Where are the human-rights experts when innocent people are being slaughtered by extremist groups? Was the police chief that was beheaded denied his human rights by the Mautes? Where's the internationals

@  Budhah : (24 May 2017 - 07:51 PM)

Just announced on Fox news that the Martial law may go nation wide, because of Isis killing in the South. Fear of it spreading to rest of the PI.

@  doctor who : (24 May 2017 - 06:36 AM)

Martial Law, stopped me in my tracks last night,, travelling between Mati, and Davao , at 9pm stopped at a road side Army inspection setup, everybody off the bus, walk through the inspection area then back on the bus, only to get stuck behind a military convoy,,

@  willie50 : (24 May 2017 - 05:41 AM)

martial law has not affected san Francisco and prosperidad on Mindanao at this moment. usually a lot of soldiers n check points

@  Pukpuk : (23 May 2017 - 11:58 PM)

@FurryFriend Start a topic and stop crowding the Shoutbox if you are going to go on about it.

@  Pukpuk : (23 May 2017 - 11:57 PM)

@FurryFriend So you have experienced Martial law have you? Well I have and I tell you it is slightly inconvenient but not to the stage you wouldn't go there. FFS you love a troll or two don't you.

@  FurryFriend : (23 May 2017 - 11:48 PM)

http://www.rappler.com/nation/170754-davao-city-lockdown-marawi-attack Davao City mayor "urged visitors to cancel their trips to Davao unless [its] very important...[and] said that if they don't want to be thoroughly inspected in multiple checkpoints, they should not come..." That doesn't sound like a rocking fun place for a week-long mongering trip.

@  FurryFriend : (23 May 2017 - 11:20 PM)

Martial law means so much more than a curfew. It's about having mobility restricted, roads closed, stores closed, flights cancelled, and possible loss of conveniences like cellphone, ATM or internet services. These are all hinderences to mongering. If there was martial law in Pampanga, you can bet AC bars will all be closed. Furthermore, martial law grants the military ability to perform civilian law enforcement. It will not be a fun moment in the Philippines when soldiers with very powerful weapons stops you, asks you questions, then demands to frisk you.

I'm sick in my hotel right now from eating crap prepared food at a well known angeles hotel. The problem IN MY OPINION is the restaurants don't seek out quality produce it is here and available. The other is all the reliance on processed food it has no flavor. What happened to real cheddar cheese, fresh milk, decent bacon that's juicy full Of flavor and the list goes on. The people cooking are not chefs they are cooks and take no pride in what they serve. I cook at home and am good at I want to go to the kitchen and show them how to prepare chicken parmigiana its cooked in an oven not deep fried. Would you pay more for better food I know I would?

You can find good food, even in AC, but you have to know where to go. Try looking through a few threads in this section and see which restaurants people are recommending.

If you like Italian food one of my favourites is Amore Mio. Also, the food in both the ABC and Lewis Grand are good in my opinion.

The Wobbly Boot has been reported to have a great cheeseburger on other threads. I went yesterday afternoon to check it out. Well, only ended up having a coke.....was a little early for SML or my fav Johnny Black and soda. Anyway they were installing a new grill and were not serving food. Sooooo, was starving to death. Went to Brass Knob...I think it was and had a burger and fries. I was able to eat it no problem, again I was starving. I am not a picky person but I do like good food. I will give WB another shot soon.

Cheers

There is a big difference between a good burger and a great one. Everything from the bread roll to the fillings has to be right I guess I'm lucky in Australia its easy to find good quality food at the supermarket to cook with.

Tonight Billguy and myself ventured out to locate the best Cheeseburger in all of Angeles City and IMOP we have found it. A little place in the side yard of a house in Angeles City proper in the Nepo Subdivision. Burger Shack is the name and burgers are there game. Open very limited hours, 6-10pm weekdays and 6-midnight weekends. First restaurant in the Philippines that after the meal I was given a comment card to fill out. Its hard to explain just how juicy the burgers are and size, awesome comes to mind. Pics attached and FB page. You have to give it a try.

The 1st time I ate at Jollibee a few years ago, I made the mistake of ordering a cheeseburger. It was horrible. I could not finish it. I don't think they use real chopped beef, but rather some factory processed meat by product made into a patty. My girl ordered the one piece fried chicken and rice. That was pretty good, I mean KFC good. She hand fed me portions of her chicken. Nice girl. She works at Lost in Asia.

KFC good?

Not even close, nothing compares to KFC for fried chicken.

KFC in the PI is a different animal. You have to order, and wait ten minutes.

First few times I tried it I vowed never to touch it again. That was many years ago, and I guess the chickens are better fed now, but trying to scrape some skin off a lump of bone was nothing like the KFC I knew and loved from Singapore and other places.

I've found the quality of chicken in KFC in the Philippines vary variable. Sometimes you can get a good one that's cooked just right and has loads of juicy meat on it. Other times you end up with a scrawny little undernourished bird. A bit like it is with the girls in MBC actually.

Long way to go for what is after all just Amererican fast food . I know I like one as well, but not often , realize its not healthy grub especially with fries , same goes for English fish and chips even more delicious , but to much fat and grease does you no good .. right ..

Not so far to go really. There's one on the ground floor of the building I live in. Takes me less than a minute to get there.

I tried Burger Shack and I must say it's delicious. As long as you don't mind any of these:

  • travelling a couple of kilometers from where you are now ( I assume most of us are in Balibago). try to anticipate the traffic as well.
  • spend a couple of minutes trying to find where the place is located
  • long waiting (place is too saturated.reservation is an option by calling them up.)
  • or worse,as soon as you arrive only to find out it's still closed

Personally I'm not a big fan of going too far just to have a great tasting hamburger so my vote still goes to WOBBLY BOOT.

If you guys are familiar with Didi's Pizza in Balibago, you may try their Pizza Burger.

Something to look out for is San Fernando's popular "Francis D's All In Burgers" which they're about to open a branch in SM Clark.

Went there yesterday with my gf. I really liked the atmosphere and the food. She had a Cheeseburger while l had a Rohan Burger. The taste was great, good bun, meat a bit greasy but good. They serve self made ice tea which also tastes good. As she couldn't finish her Cheeseburger l ate half of it on top of my own burger. We left with a positive impression.

Unfortunately l started to feel bad after l came back to the hotel. Then over night l got the runs, so bad l soiled the bedsheets. I am 99% sure it was the burger. My gf didn't have problems. But ok, she is Filipina and ate much less of the beef patty. I really wanted to like that place, but with this result l won't return.

We nearly went down there last night but assumed it would be packed, Saturday and all. Doesn't sound too good if you got the runs, maybe it was the ice tea, made from tap water?

If you saw the way dishes and glasses are washed in many restaurants you'd have second thoughts about ever eating out again. I doubt this place is any worse than any other joint through. There was one place I used to eat in Singapore, until I noticed the plates were left in a big bowl on the floor, before being washed, and a stray dog was there happily licking each plate clean.....

As l travel a lot in Asia l am usually not to sensitive. But this time it got me. I can only suspect it was the beef. My gf had a half pattie while l had two and her half. At the end the cost of my visit was 510 + 3400 php for the bedsheets. And even now, after 2 days l am still not 100 %.
