Pools in all of the kandi buildings are shaded most of the day and very cold. Take a trike at night there are drug types along the way

@  Hellboy : (20 August 2017 - 06:17 AM)

I think Kandi is way better than staying in a hotel unless you need to be right on WS

I have reserved 10days stay at Grosvenor Square, Angeles City. Any views whether it is better than staying in Hotels?

@  bramrebello : (20 August 2017 - 05:38 AM)

Hi Guys!

@  kantutero : (20 August 2017 - 12:03 AM)

Budhah: they'd be awfully old if they had been alive during the Moro wars and not even Samm is THAT old LOl

@  Budhah : (19 August 2017 - 09:33 PM)

Sorry Kantutero,, But since it was suppose to have happened in the Philippines, I thought that someone living there might actually know more, It was reported back in 1920s by the Chicago Tribune, and floating around in different venues since. With the way the Tribune has been of late, I would trust the old stories more than what they "report" today. I had an uncle fight in the PI And at the battle of Bataan and some of the stories brought back are pretty chilling. Being cruel on both sides was not unusual. BBC seems to have a few tidbits that are very interesting to us, They sure gave MURDOCh a pain when he was caught misbehaving.

@  kantutero : (19 August 2017 - 07:31 PM)

: (20 August 2017 - 03:30 AM) USS Indianopolis Just Located and photographed 18000 below the surface east of Samar. A little deep for wreck diving, but among the most important shipwrecks in Philippine waters. https://news.usni.or...-wreckage-found

@  kantutero : (19 August 2017 - 06:47 PM)

The story about Black Jack Pershing is discredited by all historians. There was a Colonel who buried dead Moros with pigs but the legend about Shooting 49 with bullets dipped in pig blood and telling the 50th to spread the word is not true. http://www.chicagotr...0818-story.html

@  Evel Knievel : (19 August 2017 - 06:26 PM)

99% of the media in the US is so bias the can't even report it with a straight face!

@  kantutero : (19 August 2017 - 06:03 PM)

The Brits are still bitter about incidents from 70 years ago like the King David Hotel Bombing in Jerusalem which then housed the HQ of the British authorities.

@  kantutero : (19 August 2017 - 06:01 PM)

Buddah: I'll refrain from responding to you parrotting the demagogue's blaming the media for all his scandals and confine my respobse to the BBC. If you think it is balanced, read any article about the Israeli Palestinian dispute and you'll quickly realize BBC is just as biased against Israel as Al Manar (Hizbullah's propaganda arm)

@  Budhah : (19 August 2017 - 05:58 PM)

Since it was suppose to have happened in the PI, does anyone know if General Pershing actually used bullets dipped in Pigs Blood to do away with some 50 Religious fanatic trouble makers?? Made the new here last couple of days

@  Budhah : (19 August 2017 - 05:55 PM)

At least BBC has the news, Not too sure what we have in the USA with the MSM< weather it is real news or made up stuff..

Hey FYI according to their FB this place is hiring a cook and two waitresses, so if you know any girls or expats who dont mind flipping burgers.

Were I there and legal to work I would totally be a burger fryer, even if the pay is shit. I got other sources of income :o

This place is in the heart of a Filipino area with virtually no foreigners. It has limited hours. I can't imagine this beef being very good.

So someone who has personally tried a place based on personal experience recommends it as being one of the best burgers in AC. Then someone who has never been there says it can't be any good because its in an area where only Filipinos go.

Why can't food be any good just because there are only Filipinos there? Filipinos like good quality burgers as much as anyone else you know.

They do? Then compare the meat and taste in a Yumi Burger or Champ Burger at Jollibee versus Burger King or MacDonalds. Please!

I'd say Burger King is better than McDonald's, and McDonald's is better than Jollibee, but what has that got to do with anything? The question I was asking is why should a burger restaurant not be any good just because there are not many foreigner in that area?

The 1st time I ate at Jollibee a few years ago, I made the mistake of ordering a cheeseburger. It was horrible. I could not finish it. I don't think they use real chopped beef, but rather some factory processed meat by product made into a patty. My girl ordered the one piece fried chicken and rice. That was pretty good, I mean KFC good. She hand fed me portions of her chicken. Nice girl. She works at Lost in Asia.

They are running out of patties and buns before close because of business picking up, so I would suggest going early.

Such a problem is usually a good sign that they are either doing something right, or the employees are stealing inventory from the back room

I imagine its a case of cost not so much having bad taste in burgers. Hence you see lots and lots of Jollibee's etc. and very few Burger Kings in the Philippines.

Jollibee own the Burger King brand in the Philippines, so they are actually part of the same company here. It's quite likely that they obtain many of the ingredients for both chains from the same source. The difference in price/quality/taste is simply that they are covering different markets. Jollibee would be more popular with those with lower incomes, while Burger King would be marketed at the more well off.

It's not just foreigners who have money to spend in the Philippines. There are plenty of Filipinos with money too, and those guys know a good burger when they find one. The idea that good quality food = foreigners while poor quality = Filipino is ridiculous. Most of the best restaurants in the country are primarily marketing themselves to Filipinos. Outside of the tourist areas, foreigners count for nothing really.

It's between Kalayaan & Rizal - it's in Makati, hehe.

My barfine tells me mostly the meat is from the village buffalo that died.

See what happens when the sponsor doesn't believe that the Carabao is sick & doesn't send the money, it ends up at the burger joint. :)

I think its time to take a few owners or managers of area restaurants that think they serve a good burger out to Burger Shack and show them what a great burger tastes like.

Please. The Philippines probably has the worst food and quality of food of any Asian country. With 90 million Filipinos and many abraod you wonder why there are so few Filipino restaurants outside the PI? Yes, Jollibee does own the Burger King brand in the PI and the burgers at Burger King taste like the ones in the US. Jollibee burgers are horrible. You are free to eat as many as you like. :)

Hi Chris, I understand what you are saying, but I think you misunderstood what I was getting at. I was not saying that only foreigners have money, I am fully aware that there are some very wealthy Filipinos and also a burgeoning middle class with disposable income, and I certainly was not making the assumption that good quality food = foreigners and bad quality food = Filipino.

I was trying to say that the fact is that to make a good burger costs more, so it is not necessarily a case that Filipino's do not like a good burger its just a case the vast majority of the population have other financial priorities.

Burger Kwiqng and McDonalds use the same beef that dog food makers use. To use them as a quality standard is silly.

That's a sweeping statement - of ANY Asian country? I pretext my answer though by saying I love much of the Filipino food & eat it just about every day.

My answer to the reason why there aren't many Filipino restaurants outside of Phil is a combination of 2 reasons, both of them mean there is no market for it. Firstly the Philippines doesn't market itself to the world very well at all with anything, even for tourism so it's understandable why nobody knows of the food, culture etc, especially up against Chinese food, Thai food, Singaporean food etc that are so well known. Secondly when Filipinos go overseas to live, they won't eat at a Filipino resaurant, they'll cook it themselves at home & share it amongst their Filipino friends & workmates. How many good Chinese restaurants do you see overseas that are full of Chinese? Heaps. Filipinos don't do that.

This is what I have witnessed in Aus.

I'm sure there are in Manila as it's a huge city. I'm sure they are expensive as well. But we are talking about Angles City. Over all the food is crap and overpriced with some exceptions. I might go here to try this place. I seriously am not thinking this is amazing high quality hamburger meat. I am not talking about toppings as well. I'm talking strictly the burger meat.

And I stand on my statement that Filipino food is just about the worst in Asia. It can't come close to Japanese Thai, Chinese, Indonesia, Malaysian, Indian, Cambodian and most of the other countries. Tell me what Asian countries have worse food than the Philippines? In most Asian countries as well, the street food is much safer to eat.

Salt is right on the money here!

PI food is mostly inedible fried crap & the reason that there are so few Pinoy restaurants anywhere else around the world is... because PI food is crap. Love the women, love the country. But Crap food!

The next worst food would have to be some of the Burmese and some of the Cambodian foods. But even their worst foods are still miles ahead of Pinoy food. I'd rather eat Thai grasshoppers, beetles or rat than Pinoy food.

What do you expect? it is a fast food cheese burger

Wherever you go around the world, whether it is McDonalds, BurgerKing, etc, meat will be factory processed & had been frozen for a long long time.

You have to remember that just because it's not made from lean meat doesn't mean it can't be called "beef". Beef could be just about any flesh that comes from the cow. It could be mechanically reclaimed meat that is scraped off the remaining bones or skull once the rest of the flesh has been removed. Sausages and hotdogs are often normally made from this type of beef.

I question if the Jollibee burger is meat at all. Or what percentage of the burger is meat and what percentage is saw dust or some other filler that never had parents. The burger just does not taste right.

But we are getting off point. The original topic was very good: AC's best Cheeseburger and I for one am going to try the Burger Shack the next time I am in in Angeles. Thanks FordTech for the tip.

Now let me return the favor; I would like to recommend to you guys: Apartment 1b. Address 132 Sedeno Street, Makati - just 2 blocks from Ayala Triangle. Apartment 1b serves up a world class cheeseburger. It is really juicy and flavorful. I know you guys will dig them. Give the restaurant a try next time you are in Makati.
