I have noticed posts by guys who are willing to admit it when they've been scammed. Some of the stories are quite embarrassing, the amounts of money lost, etc. Then there is usually someone who will come on and tell them how stupid they were to be scammed. All of which got me to wondering, is there anyone out there who at some point in time has been to Angeles / Manila / Cebu, etc, and has never been scammed on some level?

If so, let's hear your experience. What was your first experience and how did it go down?

Hmmm...I picked up a ladyboy by accident when I first arrived in Thailand. She insisted she suck my cock. I insisted she get the fuck out of my way or I would kick 6 shades of shit out of her. I ended up running through the backstreets with a pack of dogs chasing me.

Also had a girl take my back to her place only to show me pics of her baby, the deadbeat dad that ran off (that she was still pining for) and then telling me she had "men" (her period) so we could just sleep....

Typical lame ducks...

And I got robbed of my gold chain when I was in Vietnam last year. The bitch took it off me with ONE HAND while sitting behind me on a motorcycle. I was watching my pockets but forgot I had a chain on...

These things count as scams?

I think the OP means the kind of scam that is systematic and carefully planned milking the bank accounts of lonely old (and young) foreigners by playing on their need for female affection.

Scammers can operate in a gang or independently. I heard of one operation in Cebu where a guy was running a webcam service out of his house with a half dozen PCs and rotating shift of girls. These girls may be upfront about the services they offer (stripping for cash) or they could be playing the long con by posing as naive and desperate girls in need of financial help...either as students or province girls.

Some get conned by bar girls when they ought to know better. Girls that know how to please a man sexually most certainly know his weak spots so they can use his ego to make him feel like a white knight rescuing a damsel. As I believe men are wired to provide and protect women (especially sexy young things) many many men have fallen for the lies of a bargirl.

Anyone can be scammed in the Philippines, as I was on my first trip. I 'only' lost a few hundred dollars but I consider it valuable tuition fee for understanding the rules of the game, how things really work over here. Don't come here and apply Western morals in a third world country. Sharing personal stories won't help a newbie because I firmly believe the best way to learn is the hard way...

I never got scammed in that way. Unless we can consider my marriage to my first Thai wife a scam. She married me and then sat on her ass for 10 years while I paid for her and my stepson (i.e. her son by another man).

Ok I got scammed I guess. Like many men who marry women in the west I suppose... :P

I'll admit I was pretty sheltered from the world. Coming to the Phils changed that. For the first time I saw little children sleeping on the street. I asked myself would i be willing to steal, or at least lie, so that I could eat better? Or maybe wear nicer clothes? If there was someone dumb enough to believe my lies that I guess I could rationalize such 'immoral behaviour' by saying 'fools and their money are parted' or 'he's rich anyway'. It's a game of survival for a lot of folks here. Laws of the jungle apply. For a catholic country there does seeming to be a lot of hustling, boozing and sex...

Marriage for love is a relatively recent phenomenon. Hundreds of years ago marraiges were often ways of consolidating wealth or strengthening politcal alliances.

Men are biologically compelled to chase after pussy. Which is why we come to the Phils :WinkGrin1:

After a few SML's on my first trip, I gave generously to the cripples and beggar kids, I know alot better now.....
Couple of bargirls scammed me same trip by telling me it would be extra for watching them do lesbian even though I'd barfined them and agreed the deed during negotiations. The mattress mamba got the better of me and I paid, but realsied afterwards and didn't give them a tip

I agree with alanlat's first post about 'what is scammed'. Hershey offered a more detailed definition of being conned. Just some bloke added more details of where I'm going with the concept.
That is where I don't care as much about being called stupid. There is such a fine line between being conned or not there.
Ok, so a tout offers you a Tshirt and you buy it. But you could have walked to the gift shop and got it cheaper. The material is so thin it is cr@p the first time you wash it. You got fake Viagra from the street vendor. The bargirl said you were handsome and you bought her a drink or BF. Oh, that doesn't count I was never scammed? And tell me about that 100piso trike ride then :P And you had how many BF and NEVER heard of mens, or I have to leave early because...
Bigger ones, fake jewelry, simply robbed, lies to get charity pisos.
Deception causing us not to get what we intended at a good price is one possible definition. That's why I can more easily ignore guys making fun of me giving more time, love and piso to girls who didn't earn it or take proper care of what was given to them. Also they got it through deception.
I can't think of anyone I have traveled with who hasn't been shorted one way or another as I listed above. So to me a person bragging how they never been scammed because they never sent piso to them is hypocritcal.
Double LD's, the list goes on. I call BS on any visitor who has been there who has gotten treated completly fairly and honestly on multiple transactions during a stay. It's more of a matter of where you draw the line. I have walked on quite a few occasions rather than being overcharged by the taxi's or trikes. Said no to the extra charges at the bar and left. But do you really want to risk the beating or scene for not paying their inflated price every time? I think it is helpful when guys share their stories so we can avoid things. There are always a few who are delusional that they are above it all.
One of my least favored of that type is the person who says they always get it free.

Oh, and to the newbee's who haven't been there and are too worried about being scammed. Relax. The advice here is to avoid being way overcharged, but relax and enjoy yourself. Not everyone is out to get you by any means there. How to enjoy yourself doesn't take much advice now does it? Go to the bar, look over 15-100+ girls. Drink. Chat, move on to the next bar and repeat. I know I give much more advice on things to avoid than the pleasures, but those should be obvious.

I got scammed in a minor way within 4 hours of landing in Cebu on my virgin trip. Met cute girl and her ugly cousin at the airport, both accompanied me to hotel, cute girl stayed, but fat ugly cousin needed to get home, she lived a long way away...I asked "How far? How much for taxi?" 3500 P was the reply. I gave it to her lol.

She lived about 200P away I later found out.

Fell for the sponsorship thing when I was young and was being way too nice because I felt bad for how some people had to live out here. Once I snapped out of it and realized i was being too much of a "nice guy" then it was over and I learned it the hard way not to fall for that shit out here. Found out later she had a filipino bf the whole time and ended up hooking dirty old fat guy for the same scam after I left. Ugh

I had a girl claim she was pregnant on my second trip to go see her. As soon as we met the first thing she said was her period was due at any moment, which caused me consternation because I figured I wouldn't be able to bang her once that started. Despite that, I took utmost caution to pull out religiously, etc. Then a mere 9 days after I get back she says she's pregnant with my baby. Well, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that is highly unlikely. First, when a woman is supposed to menstruate, it's about the most infertile time of their cycle. Even if she was pregnant by me, it would still take more than 9 days to know it. So I asked her when her last period started, she told me the date, and I pulled out the calendar and sure enough, she was ALREADY several days late for it when we met up. There was no way. So I called her bluff, which caused all kinds of commotion on her part. I explained it over and over, how it was impossible, etc, etc. Then a few days later she says she took medicine and there was no more baby. So I thought it an opportune time to get rid of someone trying to scam me and I ignored her ass for about a month. Then she came back and said she was pregnant still. I told her to contact me when the baby was born and we'd go get a DNA test done, but that I wouldn't pay her one peso until then. Few months go by, she contacts me on the webcam, totally not pregnant. Long story short, I finally got her to admit that the whole thing was a lie. Here excuse was she claimed she did it because she had a baby before that had died. I'm about 99% sure that's a lie too.

If I had thought there was even a 50% chance that baby was mine, I would have given her some consideration but this was too obvious of a scam. The reason I didn't fall for it is because I had another one try it on me 30 years prior when I was still a young pup in the US Navy in Olongapo. Watch out for the "I'm pregnant with your baby" scam...
