Everything is set for my first trip to AC Sept 17th-25th. First 4 nights staying at Dollhouse and the last 4 at ABC. I had to pay for ABC in advance but just got confirmation from Dollhouse so I hope everything is fine there. I tried booking at Central Park and Pacific Breeze but they were booked. Wonder how busy it is going to be there if that is the case? Either way there should be plenty of women to go around.

It was suggested to me to stay at Central Park Hotel but they are booked during my stay 9/17-9/25 so I need to find another place. What would you choose for the list below and I want someplace that is in the action and can do some walking or a short ride.

ABC: Expensive but nice looking

Dollhouse Hotel: Again expensive

Wild Orchid:

Pacific Breeze: Where Central Park offered to put me.

Or any others you can suggest. My criteria is it needs to be clean (Prefer modern), Internet access in my room and close to the action.

Getting my Visa Done Right

Hi, this is my first time to the Philippines. I've done my homework on Philippine visas, but I would appreciate it if you could let me know if I've got it right.

I'm on a Canadian passport, valid for a few years yet. Now, I'm in Pattaya, Thailand. I'm flying into Clark International at the end of September, on Cebu Pacific, arriving at 4am.

I think the easiest and best thing for me to do is to get stamped in for 21 days on arrival at Clark, and extend my visa within the Philippines, at Angeles immigration.

I plan to stay in the Philippines for 3 months, probably with AC as my only destination.

I think I can arrange my visa this way without any problems. Am I right, thanks?

As I'm flying with Cebu Pacific, they'll want to see a return ticket, which I'm going to book online. Seeing as I'll be stamped in initially for 21 days, but plan to stay 3 months minimum, I want to book my return flight to Pattaya for around Christmas. Would the airline give me any problems about that?

And finally, what if I want to change my return flight date to sometime in 2011? Will Cebu Pacific charge me a lot of money to do that? If you know, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks again,

December 2009

I realise this is a bit overdue, but I suck at writing trip reports. That being said, here I go because I enjoy reading everyone else's trip reports and I don't want to just be a leech.

I last went to the PI in December 2009 on a 3 day stopover on my way somewhere else, and arrived in Manila airport (the only airport I can fly into from Japan) the day before Christmas. Getting through customs etc was a breeze and the customs was a joke, probably because of the hordes of people returning home to the Philippines for Chistmas. I changed a bit of money for a taxi at the small money changing place just before you leave the airport (it's near where you pick up your bags, just look around and you should see it), then headed out into the heat. December is hot and sticky and I'm pretty sure that if I had a straw I could have drunk the air.

I stood swaying as the heat hit me like a hammer to the face and took in the scene. Yup, I was in the Philippines allright. I could tell by the armored vehicles the police drive, the dozen or so heavily armed guards standing around the airport trying (unsuccessfully) to blend into the background, and the fact that there were three queues at the taxi place, one for people chatting, one for people patiently waiting in line (mostly tourists), and one for the people who were skipping the other two queues and just grabbing the first taxi available (mostly natives and experienced tourists). I opted for option B and walked back down past the queues and flagged down a returning taxi, effectively skipping the queues.

I've been to AC quite a few times and decided that this time I wanted to see what Manila itself was like, so I had booked a room at Great Eastern Hotel in Makati (the business district apparently). The taxi drive took about 25 minutes because of the insane traffic, and it seemed like everyone was in a major rush. I slipped in my earphones, closed my eyes and tried to ignore the insanity going on around me because there really was nothing I could do about it so I might as well just relax. Once we got a bit away from the airport traffic cooled off considerably, and by the time we arrived in Makati the traffic was quite calm. The taxi pulled up outside the Great Eastern Hotel (not to be mistaken for the Best Western Hotel just down the road), I paid the fair (I think it was about 150 pesos), tipped the taxi driver 20 pesos for not getting me killed, and the security guy in front of the hotel helped me get my bags out. I chatted to him while we waited for the bellboy to arrive and he pointed me in the direction of a collection of bars about 300 meters from the hotel. I slipped him 50 pesos and went up to the front desk to check in.

The staff were friendly, but frankly incompetent, and it took them about 5 minutes of searching to find me the paperwork I needed to fill in, and then another 10 minutes of calling people in the hotel to find out if my room was actually ready. In their defense there was a wedding there that day and the hotel was busy, with wedding guests streaming in and out, including little kids running around and screaming, so I didn't think much of it and just chilled out in the airconditioning. Eventually a harassed looking guy came down and showed me to my room. He pointed out that the thermostat on the airconditioner was broken, so it had only 2 settings, on or off. I asked if there was another room I could take and he said they were fully booked because of the wedding, so I shrugged it off and flipped open my laptop to access the hotel WiFi and contact some of the ladies I had lined up for my trip... and no dice. Now I had earlier checked that the hotel had WiFi, and they were adamant it had, so I headed down to the front desk to try and get it sorted out. No luck, according them it was working and it was just my computer, so I fiddled with my wireless settings, changed the protocols, etc and still no dice. It wasn't my computer (a fact confirmed later that day when I overheard two German tourists complaining about the same thing).

No worries I thought, I'll just phone the ladies' cellphone numbers... except when I dialled for an outside line there was no dial tone, so I called the front desk and they said the switchboard was broken and wouldn't be fixed until after New Years. I think they could hear my grinding teeth by this point, so they offered to let me call from the front desk, which I declined since I don't think they'd like if I stood in the lobby of the hotel talking on the phone and asking someone, "So, do you take it up the ass?", while surrounded by wedding guests and kids.

Now bear in mind that this room was 2500 pesos/$50 a night, hardly cheap in terms of the local going rate. It was a really nice room, spacious, nice bed, good view of the street... and no freezing cold since the airconditioner was on full-blast. I opened the window a crack and after a few minutes of experimenting managed to get a nice balance between hot and cold air. I decided to take a walk around and see if I could find an internet cafe or pay phone to get into contact with my ladies. I managed to find a small internet cafe after 10 minutes of walking, but he was closing up for Christmas... darn. I managed to find a small store that had a pay phone, but same story.

Oh well, there are plenty of fish in the sea, so I went back to the hotel to cool off, then went upstairs to their restaurant "Guillivers" (as in Guillivers' Travels) which had quite a good write-up. I wasn't impressed. The roast beef was overcooked (despite me repeating "rare" to the waiter twice, since she seemed to be confused by the term), their yorkshire pudding was hard, and all the vegetables were either over-cooked, mashed, or swimming in sauce. I can only assume that the reviewer rated the restaurant purely on quantity, because the portions were large. The waitress I got was very sweet and completely out of her depth, and I suspect it was her first night or something. I tipped her 50 pesos anyway though because she had a really short skirt and a cute ass and watching it was the high-point of an otherwise mediocre dinner .

After that I headed down to my room, showered and shaved, then out into the unrelenting heat in search of a good time. I stopped by a money changer the hotel security guard recommended and changed 10 000pesos, then went looking for the bars he mentioned. I was quite disappointed that the bars in Makati were much harder to spot than in AC, and much, much smaller. I finally could a few quite close together and chose one at random called Coyote-something (no, the name isn't Coyote-something, I just can't remember the whole name). I wanted to just have a look, but I was mobbed the moment I came in the door. I waved them off, took a seat at the bar and ordered a beer. The place was small, a rectagonal place with booths along the right and a stage on the left where some girls were dancing. In total there were about 30 girls in the place and just myself and one other customer who I couldn't see clearly because of the high-backed booths, but had at least 4 girls with him. I had barely got my beer before the girls returned again with a bucket and bell and began singing. I looked at them bemusedly and dumped the coins I got in change from the beer into the bucket. This seemed to satisfy them and most of them dispersed except for five of them, one of whom was quite forward and tried to climb into my lap... I pushed her away gently. Another started massaging my shoulders without me asking, luckily at the same time as I was gently removing the other from my lap or it could have gone badly because I don't like people coming up behind me and I hadn't had a great day so far. I sipped my beer and tried to relax, the forward girl settling for wrapping my arm around her waist. The other three arranged themselves facing me and chatted amongst themselves for a bit, before one of them suggested I move to a booth where it was more comfortable. I eyed the booths and decided that the shoulder massage wasn't doing much good with me sitting on a bar stool, so I agreed. This caused some excitement and I was escorted to the booth with much ceremony, one of them carrying my beer, the other my beer mat, one girl still massaging my shoulders, the other still attached to my arm, and one girl looking a bit disappointed that she had nothing to do.

I settled into the booth and the massaging girl sat up behind me and contined to massage. I had a good look at her, an older girl, still slim and quite attractive, but her face was a little hard. The one attached to my arm was, ironically, my type, small, slim and cute, but normally I don't go for the more aggressive girls because often they're more trouble than they're worth. The other two were "typical" filipina bar girls, big breasted, small bodied and not my type. The one with nothing to carry was also small and cute, and definitely my type, but she wandered off at this point, which was a shame in retrospect because I might have chosen her. I told the girl clinging to my arm (I'll nickname her "Limpet" at this point) to go and get me another beer and to get ladies drinks for herself and the one massaging me. The other two took this as their signal to leave, which is what I intended it to be. Limpet came back with the drinks and a tab, which I refused to sign and instead told her I'd pay in cash. I started chatting with the Limpet and Massage as they drank their drinks. Massage was apparently popular with the Japanese clients, and despite being older she really did have magic hands.

We chatted in Japanese for a while, and she was quite personable, but Limpet began to get a bit agitated at this and began kissing me and feeling me up. After a while she unbuttoned her top and encouraged me to play with her tits, and even guided one of my hands down to her pussy so I could have a good feel while she stroked my dick through my pants and kissed me some more. I was hard as a rock so I sent Massage off to get the mama-san, 3 ladies drinks and a final beer for myself. The mama-san arrived, I got Massage to present her with her drink and asked how much Limpet's bar fine was. It turned out to be 2000 pesos, which wasn't unreasonable so I agreed. Now I made a newbie mistake here by not talking terms with Limpet first, but I was tired after the flight, frustrated by the multiple inconveniences and just wanted to fuck ... bad me. Limpet asked for some coins to throw to the girls on stage and I took out my wallet to see what I had in terms of change and emptied the coin section onto the table. Second bad mistake. Limpet scooped up the coins and hurled them at the stage... I rolled my eyes, there were some 500 yen coins in there... 500 yen is about $5 or 250 pesos. I didn't grumble, she couldn't have known, but I noticed that Massage made a dash for one of them, which she had the good manners to offer back to me, realising it's value, but I waved her off. I settled the bill and Limpet and I headed out towards the hotel.

We got to my room allright apart from some odd looks from wedding guests, but I couldn't care. I told Limpet to go and shower, then joined her. She looked good in the shower, nice smooth body, no scars or other problems, nicely trimmed landing strip, and we kissed a bit in the shower before heading to bed. She gave me a nice long BBBJ, complete with twisting hand action and good use of tongue, I'd give her a . After that I slipped on a condom and moved on to the main course. Limpet was okay, maybe a . She was up for most positions, but refused anal and complained a bit about my size (I don't have a huge dick, so maybe she was just saying this to try and please me, but I find it irritating). I came, and she gave me a nice cat-bath cleanup and played with my balls while I relaxed and had a cigarette. She watched the TV (some Christmas movie) which I'd turned on to drown out any sex-noise to the neighbouring rooms, and about half an hour later I was up for some more fun. Similar performance again, but this time I didn't come as quickly and it took a while. After that she cleaned me up again and then said that she had to go home because it was Christmas... blah blah, story about kids, sick mother, dying goat, blah blah. I wasn't really listening. I waved her off with a 300 pesos tip and she asked for more, blah blah, Christmas, sick kids, story about goat, dying mother, blah blah. Now I must admit I had no right to feel irritated, I hadn't confirmed that Limpet was bar fining for LT, although that is the normal assumption, but I feel justified because she didn't mention this before and 300 pesos isn't a bad tip. She was good, but it was just a couple of hours and for that I think I was more than fair. She left and I went to sleep.

The next day I headed out to find a new hotel. The lack of wifi at the hotel was getting on my nerves. I settled for the Lotus Garden Hotel in Ermita, which was closer to Intramuros (the old city) and made a reservation, then I went back, got my bags, checked out and moved hotels. During the day I visited the Manila Cathedral (quite impressive) and Fort Santiago, but most of the areas were closed because it was Christmas.. beginning to sense a theme here? I had heard about a great place to get a massage and proper shave at the Manila Country Club, but it too was closed over Christmas, so I never got a chance to check that out.

I retired to my room early and powered up my computer, checked my mail, and contacted my number one choice... no-one there... I moved down the list until number three, who I organised to meet up with later that night for drinks. I went out to check out the neighbourhood. A LOT more beggars and scammers in the Ermita area. Makati only had a few, mostly little kids, while Ermita seemed to specialise in the unwashed old guy type, but I just ignored them and din't make eye contact and they got the point.

I walked down to Robinsons Mall (about 10 minutes walk... it looked closer on the map, and I took a taxi back) and did some shopping. It was packed with people doing last-minute shopping, and I picked up some nice stuff at good prices. I stopped by the grocery section to see if there was anything interesting to eat (I wanted to try Hopia and Ube), but it was almost completely sold out because *drumroll* it was Christmas. Next I headed up to the food court and there were easily a dozen small shops selling a huge range of food. I got small portions of various dishes from about 3 of them and managed to elbow myself some space at one of the tables. The food was surprisingly good, despite being mass-prepared, and I'd recommend visiting the food court if only for the variety and cheap prices (my little mini-feast set me back about 400 pesos and I couldn't finish all of it, because the smallest portion sizes are still quite big).

I got a taxi back to my hotel, showered because I was soaked with sweat, then headed out to a small restuarant I'd seen on my way to the Mall called "Jurgens". I forget the owner's nationality (I think he's Dutch, but I don't recall). The restuarant is small, with perhaps a few too many tables in it, but it was quiet when I came in at about 7pm, and the ambiance was nice, with just the owner and a couple of his friends there. I order the carpaccio, which was excellent, and then a rump steak with blue cheese, which was delicious. If I nitpick I might say that the salad it came with was a little small and the mashed potatoes were a little hard, but overall it was a very pleasant dining experience, and the house red was a very good and reasonably priced Merlot (I forgot to ask to see the bottle).

Just down the road from Jurgens there were a set of girly bars, including one called "Butterfly". I was amused so I poked my nose in to have a look, and a drink. It was quiet with no customers, and I was swamped again but didn't stick around since I already had made arrangements for that evening. I took a taxi back to Robinsons Mall to meet up with my date, we chatted for a bit, agreed a price (1500 pesos), and headed back to my hotel room for a very enjoyable night. I won't go into details since this isn't a bar girl and is rather someone I head-hunted online to cater to my particular bdsm kinks and I know that's not everyone's cup of tea. I tipped her 1000 pesos in the morning (and before anyone whines that I'm spoiling things for everyone, I was prepared to pay 2000 pesos for the night, so I tipped her a bit extra in the morning, but it basically comes out to the right total). She was happy, I was satisfied and I headed out to do some last-minute shopping. I was feeling good so I decided to walk... bad mistake.

Now one of the odd things about the Philippines is that people sleep on the sidewalk. It's understandable when you see the size of the shops, and if they person in the shop needs to go and pee or something then they yell for their relative sleeping outside to come and cover the shop while they're away. It makes sense, however it also means there are a lot of bodies in some streets. I wasn't paying attention, I had some last minute shopping to do, I was a bit tired by feeling good, and I didn't notice one of the guys "sleeping" get up as I walked past. In fact the first thing I noticed was a sharp object in my back and a hand on my shoulder, followed by, "Give me your wallet". I handed it back to him and he ran off. I was a bit angry with myself for being so careless, but I was also amused because he'd just got my decoy wallet which had the magnificent total of about 1000 pesos plus a lot of junk in it. The wallet itself was probably worth more than that. I headed to Robinsons, did my shopping, bought a cheap new fake-leather decoy wallet for 300 pesos, and took a taxi back to the hotel, showered then took a nap, and then headed off to the airport.

As a final note, it's worth remembering to convert most of your pesos back to your currency before you go because there is a limit on how many pesos you can take out. Remember to keep some pesos though because you have to pay a departure tax and they really rip you off if you try to pay it in foreign currency (you get the lousy airport exchange rate).

Hope you enjoyed reading this. Sorry for the lack of pictures but it was just a quick stopover.
